Do you guys find it better to list by breed only or just as one ad with all breeds?

I would indicate in the title "multiple breeds"

Donna, people are pretty basic in their searches. If you include the basic words like chicks or chickens, in the title and repeat those words along with specific breeds and ages etc in the body, and list all the breeds in one ad.

Or make two listings and make them sound different, but actually include all the same breeds.

Sometimes customers ask me initially about one breed and end up with a second or another breed instead.

I don't know why--people don't seem to have a clear plan of what to buy sometimes.

I like one ad with all breeds. I think it annoys people to look at several different ads that are obviously from the same person and are posted consecutively. I keep and ad current on cl all the time. If I don't have chicks to sell at the moment I can presell some. Also I think it really helps to put a price in an ad. It seems to weed out people looking for free or close to free chicks. I don't sell mine for much but it's enough to make a little.

Mine may be VERY CHEAP as I don't want to raise them. It is also getting late in the year for chicks..... I just don't seem to get any replies lately.

I seem to have more people wanting started chicks that are presexed than people wanting just hatched babies. It's a pain for me because I really don't want the added expense of raising them until they are sexable at 8 weeks or so and when I raise the price to reflect the fact that the feed costs me money they don't really want to pay what the birds are worth. I try to sell them at around 6 to 8 weeks for about $5 to $7 dollars a bird. Even that is pretty much like taking a loss rather than making any profit on it. It stinks. I have 15 birds still needing to be sold and then I am thinking I am done hatching for the year. Unfortunately I ended up with another broody hen today just hoping I can talk her out of it rather than hatching more since it is getting really hot and I am having issues with the chickens and heat. Just can't seem to win with these guys lol.

I know it is getting late in the year. I need to do some hatching for myself now. I have sold almost everything. I talked to a guy today that wants 200 chicks in October though. He raises them up and sells off the pullets and eats the cockerels. I don't know what he is going to do with that many cockerels but he liked my prices so he wants a lot of them.

I sell young pullets for $7 and the teenaged young ones 2-3months $10 and $15 near point of lay. As soon as I can sex them the price goes up. Some breeds are easier than others. NH keep me guessing for a long time and Ameraucanas too.

So jealous.... I know that this isn't a huge deal here in IA land, but for where I live, I could be in trouble with the hatch that's in the bator. Hoping that I'll have a few customers looking to become urban farmers!
