Incubators Anonymous

I'm still hatching! But this time only one Sportsman is going, instead of 3 and a Hova-Bator like a couple months ago! LOL Hatched out two Muscovy ducklings this a.m. They are sooo darling! I'm inlove already. There are 5 more eggs due to hatch. Then I have about two dozen mixed chicken eggs in there that I'm incubating for a friend, and then I have some Call eggs in there, but I think they all got scrambled during shipping so they will stay put in there until I candle again. Then I have some Slate and Pearl eggs, that I'm also incubating for a friend. After that my incubator will be empty....unless something unforseen happens...which is very likey! LOL

Ohh...did I mention all my broodies??? Guess not. All 4 Bantam Orpingtons are broody, on about 2 dozen+ Slate and Lavender Guinea eggs (my eggs). However, they are going to a new home on Saturday so I will stick their eggs in the 'bator. Then I have 3-4 Sussex hens broody, they are on Guinea eggs and Sussex eggs. I have no idea how many they are setting on, a bunch! I wanted to have my 'bators off a couple months ago..but it didn't happen. Somehow the eggs kept 'appearing' in the trays? Don't ask me how? ; )

Right now all 3 of my coops are overcrowded with roos that came as extras when I picked up hens. Luckily, the Mt. Hope Swap is this weekend. I plan on unloading a ton of roos & drakes that are taking up precious coop space. Being in town there is only so much room to expand. I'm still trying to get my other 3 breeding pens here from my uncle's, but can't get anyone to haul them for me & all I have is a car. These need a flatbed trailer to haul.

five of 65 hatched last night but weren't due till Friday. The peafowl didn't make it like I expected the woman left the eggs inside of her car all day in 100 degree heat. but found her two more eggs that will hatch Sunday or Monday. . need to make a run to Louisiana and get some gator eggs

...

the broody sisters have all the eggs and hatched babies, including a couple that are just under a week old. i was holding off giving them anything until at least 2 of the eggs i gave them yesterday had hatched (so they'd know there were SUPPOSED to be babies under them).

so as of lunchtime, 2 of the 3 eggs had hatched, i gave them 13 eggs and 6 babies (counting what i put in there yesterday). for 2 girls that shouldn't be too much i'd hope. i'll check them out here in a bit once the storm is gone past.
