Incubators Anonymous

Maybe I can give you a few tips--I found the format difficult too initally, now it is easier with a little experience. THere are the swap threads AND the BUy-Sell-Trade section.

In the Buy Sell Trade section---

The auction format is that you make the next bid in a post.

We also use Buy It Now, BIN. In the Auction section , usually PM the seller if they have these regularly , otherwise add a post with MINE in it. Read the offer carefully to know which to do.

Have y ou seen the Crazy 24 hour Auction thread?? No swap required on that one !

Thanks a lot for that post. It's very helpful. I kept going that way but had no clue what was going on. I'm a pretty regular 'lurker' on the "hatching eggs" part of ebay (that's where I normally get my fix). Hubby says I have to stop for a while til I can sell some:( Oh well, more hatching for me.... I'll go check that out now. So, if the person has something for auction, it will say auction. Then, it usually says how much bids increase...you have to be the next to post your bid....am I following correctly? Then, on the BIN, PM seller or post mine (whatever seller requests) right?

Oh boy, I feel trouble brewing. This is going to get me in trouble. I need a bigger coop and run (pacing nervously). We just finished this one (I'm up to 60+. I lost count). That's bad isn't it. I'm already a member of IA (Incubators Anonymous)!

Now, I have to check out the Crazy 24 hour Auction. So much to choose from..........

Thank you for all of your help!

I am usually good, but when I see eggs that could go for a reasonable price and it is on a customer wanted list I bid on them. Since I didn't win th bid I will probably just buy them from someone on here.

I tried to help you... I sent your post on the BST sections to someone I know that has BOTH, but her Legbars are not laying yet and her SFH got mixed with the others so she can't be sure of purity of the eggs.  I tried.....

Just another enabler! Trying to help me fill up the bator!

Thanks. I think I have found both. It is hard to get very many cream legbar eggs. Everyone only seems to have 2 or 3 hens.

lol counting chicks i know about (not counting awol broody) i think i'm up over 90... and i just sold 30+ at this weekend's swap!

CHickster-- you've got the idea! Did youfind the Buy Sell trade section?? Be sure to check the other fowl sections if you want ducks and turkeys and quail, etc.
I went to the forum-then all the way at the bottom Buy, Sell, Trade. Was that the right way? When I searched for a thread, it came back with something from 2010. I'm hatching right now and I have a chick that pipped last night and one of the other chicks knocked the piece of shell off. The little hole has been there since late last night. I shined my light in there but I couldn't see anything (so far all of these bantams have been gray or black). I chipped a piece of the shell off and it's sealed in there so, I'm doing the up humidity, unseal, wrap in wet paper towel, check in 30 mins, repeat until it's free. It's chirping like crazy and trying to wiggle. That's a good sign. I had that happen to one yesterday and I was to late.

Back to the BST...was that the right route or is there another that I need to take? Now, I've got one in the brooder that's just a few hours older than the other picking on the one I just put in there. Man, they can be worse than my kids sometimes. lol.

just go to the bst forum. don't search. the forum is listed by newest post first, so if you don't see it in the first couple pages, it isn't there (what you're looking for).

As Karen said, don't do a search, just use the menu selection to get to the newest auctions. Lots there.

As for the eggs, I often assist with hatching. So easy to have a glued in chick. 18-24 hours after external pip, I start opening VERY carefully, looking for large veins. If no veins, I keep going. Saved many that way--I figure as I don't have a big professional incubator, or the perfection of a hen, I should assist to make up for my homemade and LG incubators.

I saw lots of little ones in this one so, I stopped wrapped it and I'll keep going back. It seems like the fans are the problem. This one was a Still Air and I added a fan but no way to lower the speed. Humph.....I'll have to think about that. It's chirping away in there. We are making progress...just very slow.

Thanks for leading me to the right part of the BST. Now, if I can convence my son to let me sell some of our hatches, we can list them on there. Wow! Do ya'll do that w/ your chicks or eggs?

Have you seen how much they cost

and then if you buy hatching eggs 1/2 are going to be roos... I only see them sold in set of 6 or so. I just look... not interested in them, I don't need anymore breeds.
