I am going to buy a breeding pair of BLRW from Foley

I will have 2 pair from him. I don't know what else I am going to get, but hubby is giving my birthday money and I have some insurance money. So I could come home with a car load

Today was hatch day. Got lots of babies EE, Cuckoo Marans, Copper marans, Wheaten Ams, Black Ams, and a couple of ExL splits.

I think I am going to have to cull one wheaten, she is so tiny, and she has a spot on her belly that has no down and I can see inside her. Her belly is really big too. There is just something wrong.

Today is hatch day for BR TUrkeys and BC marans

Two BR hatched and I sold two older poults today. Makes me even, right? Oh , I forgot I sold a 2mo old turkey yesterday.

Today is hatch day for BR TUrkeys and BC marans

Two BR hatched and I sold two older poults today. Makes me even, right? Oh , I forgot I sold a 2mo old turkey yesterday.

She zipped mostly and I pulled the top off for her but wanted her to kick out, she didn't. She was still alive this morning, so I took the rest of the egg off. She can walk, I think, but she is not. Just laying there sleeping. She may not make it through the night. She is half the size of the other and my Wheaten ams are small chicks anyway.

Yes your are ahead really! well at least on the Turkeys.

One of the buyers were eying the barred marans asking if they were BR. I realize now I could have sold him a cuckoo maran cckl and have one less mouth to feed ! I think I have 4 boys and 2 girls. Rally I would like to see if at least one might be without the red leakage. i wonder if black sexlink got mixed in at some point???

Why would you think that? (BSL thing) If you don't see gold by now you may not. It usually shows at about 6-8 weeks. I am done hatching the Cuckoos.... now to just SELL THEM!!!!

I have several chicks growing out that are not showing it. It really may have been coming from the one hen....

BSL thing---I have two BSL roosters and they have one or two hackle feathers that are red. ANd of course the hens are red hackled.

I plan to keep them all until I see what shows up and I have one CM from another breeder to mix in. I LOVE the super big eggs but I may need to sell off some.

Please tell me you gave the chick a chance & haven't culled yet!!! I have had several that way & they did fine. It just comes from them absorbing an extra large yolk & having very light colored thin skin. Seems like you can see right thru them but give it a couple days to absorb the yolk & you won't be able to tell it from the other chicks. They tend to sleep a bit more at 1st too since they don't need to eat so much due to the extra yolk.

Good. Is she doing ok now... Sometimes it just takes them a bit to get the rest of that yolk going & they look like their little bellies are gonna explode.
