My Ee hens have been my best layers: very large blue eggs consistently without lights. THey do stop laying in the winter months. But I can easily forgive them. 5-6 eggs/day from 7 hens. Always see them eating!!Hee heee hee so much for my Bator being turned off!!!! Stopped at the neighbors today to see what they had for chickens. I hear their Roo in the morning and curiosity got the better of me. Imagine that!!!! They have "hatchery arucanas" AKA Easter eggers. Their Roo is Huge!!! He must be two feet tall!! So I ended up with 19 eggs to go in the bator cause none of her hens have gone broody and she wants four more hens. I think she is going to take a few of my Bantys too to free range for bugs. I love my neighbors!!!
Donna, I have finally seen the light. I have not put in any new eggs recently. Just need to hatch the last two batches: BR turkey and BCM. I have a number of pens to build yet and DH actually asked me if I would move the chicks out of the upstairs bathroom. I have to agree, they hae taken over and need to be moved. ANother thing to do.I am really going to TRY and STOP hatching! What was I thinking when I set ALL the Wheaten Am Eggsor that last batch of Cuckoos
I need to find someone to buy all these EXTRA chicks
I am only going to set my SLW and BLRW and maybe the Lavs.... THAT IS IT! I SWEAR! (that could be a lot of eggs LOL)![]()

I like the "WE" thing. "We" may have chickens, but "We" aren't the ones sweating over the incubator, or wracking our brain trying to find GOOD breeding stock ---cause "WE" decided "We" liked something .I when to see Foley on Monday, came home with 4 BLRW Hens and 1 HUGE beautiful roo, his main breeder roo. He also sent me home with some chicks that hatched in a bucket in the barn. LOL True story... 1 was a SLW and the other was a Chocolate Orpington.... now what am I going to do with a Choc Orp? I don't have anything to breed it with....he also gave me some Silver Penciled Wyandotte bantams.... I don't do bantams either
But now I know they are the RAREIST of RARE of Wyandottes, so I have to keep them and breed them right?
Now hubby wants me to breed the choc orp too
I got to get something to breed it to and then they are going to be splits maybe... that is going to take a long time. So I emailed Foley to see if he was going to sell his breeding Choc Orps... hubby wants them.... I think... he said "We" have to drive back.... "We" didn't drive there... I did LOL![]()
