btw - the Ameraucana eggs are six days along, last night I saw at least half developing. And that was just an early peek into very blue eggs.

Well with my growing birds it would be easy, they all have split wings

I can't breed them to sell. I could cross them to a reg NH to help, but I can't FIND ONE!

I am needing the pens. I was not planning on growing out a couple of generations to get decent birds. I LOVE the colors, just not the issues I have. It seems to be a BIG problem with the Mix GNH. IDKW, but VERY common. If the chicks I have don't work out, I may be done. If not I will get some PURE 100% GNH from someone I trust. I didn't know he had them till this week.

Well, let me know if you end up needing eggs in the future. They weren't quite six mos old in the pictures and I'm still waiting for their first eggs.

Beautiful birds! You sell any hatching eggs? I was, hoping to buy some from Donna this fall but with the problems she is having with her birds I will probably look elsewhere.

I will, if they ever start laying! I have three girls in that pen currently and 2 more young pullets coming along. That pen is now 6 mos old, so they should start any time. Once the eggs have increased from pullet size and I've checked fertility, I will have some available. Send me a PM and I'll let you know when they are ready.

I don't know anything about those kinds of bators. That sounds like it would work. Can you put the sponges in the water or a small towel or sock so it would act like a wick? What is you humidity? Usually when they start hatching the humidity will jump up.

Angelita80, are you already hatching? At first, the humidity should only be about 25-50 percent. You do need to remember that the air picks up the humidity from the water surface area, so if the cups are small and don't give much surface area, you may need to try something else? I think I read somewhere that the surface area, when bringing up the humidity to 65% plus, has to be half the incubator's area??? Of course it depends on the amount of humidity outside too. Plus, do you have all but one of your plugs plugged? That helps keep the air from drying out.

Well, my cooler is now full of holes. I need to shop for supplies, hubby said he'd get me the light assembly and hot water heater thermostat, I've found an old computer to take a fan off of so I hope I can finish it and get it running tomorrow! Then I'll be a hatching fool!!! LOL

I took 2 of the plastic sandwich boxes (that we use for lunch instead of bags) and put one upside down, filled the other with water and sat it on top of the other. I used the bottom one to raise the top one so, when the chicks hatched and for some reason I was not around, they wouldn't fall in. I also used 2 large sponges (normal kitchen sponges but then larger size). I soaked and squeezed some of the water so they weren't sopping wet. I also had a piece of tubing that I had left over from my aquarium and ran it through the vent to re-wet the sponges using a turkey baster. I always used colored water so, I didn't have to guess when I need to add water. I arranged all of this along the walls of my bator. I also had one plug in and one out but when the chicks started hatching I had to remove the extra plug. I didn't have to take anything else out. I had a very successful hatch with this.

Well I moved some birds around, one of which was my Good Shepard BR roo. While I was moving I realized I had a barred pullet I could put with him so he could practice and he KNEW EXACTLY what to do with her. So I don't know what was going one. Maybe I need to add the hens to HIS pen and not him to THEIR pen.

I put another roo in with them, so we will see what happens with him. Maybe he will be more dominate and get me some fertile eggs. If not I am going to do some TRIMMING!
