I got 8 with holes and there peeping how long does it take for them to hatch out I am scare that they will get stuck to the eggs....:(

I'm a complete noob, but I feel this question is one I can answer =] Whatever you do, don't try to help them - they're okay. If they don't hatch completely, it's very rarely due to them sticking to the shell...it's usually because they're deformed, sickly or have some other developmental delays, and it is best to let them pass naturally....survival of the fittest so to speak.

It should take anywhere from a half hour to 24 hours for a chick to hatch after they pip (the hole in the eggs you're referring to). However, my friend said that her best hen (named Gertie/Gertrude) once had a lazy chick that took 33 hours to hatch after the pip. lol!!

Pipping is very hard for the chick and most chicks will take a very long nap before trying to do more work at hatching out.

Give them time to hatch--the time varies.

18-24 hours after external pip is when I will help them. Remeber, the internal membranes need time to have the blood absorbed.

Moisture keeps the outer membrane flexible. ANd prevents the inner membrane from sticking. You can help a sticking chick --after 18-24 hours since ex pip.

Too much moisture can cause lots of problems too.

It's all a balancing act!!

Good luck Angelita80! Most of the humidity problems come from the first 18 days, if it's too wet, but right now, keep the humidity up around 60-70% so they don't dry out :) Soon you'll have sweet cuties!!!

Well, I now have everything collected to finish my new incubator, but I really should do housework.... incubator building....housework.... is there really a choice? LOL, gonna finish my bator now!!!

I have a hatching problem HELP! I have 3-4 GNH that are still alive and moving in the eggs, but have not pipped. Today was day 22. If they are still alive tomorrow and not pipped should I help and HOW? I have never helped them pip.... just never had this happen. I feel sure they will be dead tomorrow.

I have helped in that situation before and they all hatched. Most of them finished themselves after I made the external pip for them. Others had to be helped the rest of the way. Good luck!

I also had 8 guinea running around in the incubator this morning
