Incubators at garage sale, can I use them now, or too late in season?

I got 2 incubators with egg turners, at a garage sale, for $10. They are dusty, but look nearly new. I will clean them up, and check the temp, etc. There are no inctructions, of course.

I know nothing about incubating, but would like to try. Is it too late in the season to try now?

Is there someone here that would help me through the process?

Thanks, Kathy

No, it's not too late in the season...lots of us incubate year round. I'm sure you'll be able to find all the help you need in the incubating section.

sorry... couldn't resist

It says Hovabator on it, and is 18" square. There is a heating element (I am guessing) attached to the lid, with a fan attached, that says, "Turbo-Fan, Operate at 99 1/2 degrees for all eggs." I don't see any model number or anything on it. The orange tag is mostly pulled off. On top of the lid is a screw type thing that can be turned, and it turns a thing on the inside, that is circular and has a groove around it like a pulley has, but I don't see it attached to anything. Is it suppose to be attached to something? The egg turner holds 42 eggs.

OK, I have it all cleaned up, washed out with bleach and Dawn dishsoap. Now what do I do?

Thanks! Kathy

Oh great...

I found an instruction manual online!
I am going to plug it in tonight, and check it out. Wish me luck, in my new venture. I hope this is not addicting.

After all, DH said, "NO MORE CHICKENS!"
I figure I can rationalize... I mean really, this is not chickens, it is eggs! Right????

I got the manual, copied it, and read it. I now see that the "pulley" thing is a wafer!
Glad you got a laugh out of it. heehee (No offense taken).
