Incubators: finding the right one

Just set eggs in my new Brinsea Octagon 20 Advanced i had been using three little giants I got 62% and 60% from 2 of them and the third one about 14 days in it spiked to 114 degrees I threw it away. I would rather get 95 to 100% of 24 eggs and you don't have to watch it like a hawk.
They are on sale now from Brinsea now $329 and $24 shipping got it in 3 days in Arkansas If I get that 95% hatch I will buy another. They also have a new 3 year guarantee . I kept the egg turners to use to collect eggs prior to setting them. Hatch day April 5 These eggs are Bielefelders and Cream Legbars
Have a nice spring day

No, you aren't being rude but I don't plan on selling my Incuview. I wish I had kept all of the incubators I sold lol!!

My Incuview I bought off of ebay and my styrofoam incubator I bought at Menards. Again, I highly recommend the Incuview. With my test hatch had such fun watching them, the top allows for a very clear view of the whole process. The biggest thing I would do if you get an Incuview is take a sleeping bag and put it around the sides of the incubator making sure the the hot part of the cord isn't touching. Because the base is plastic, it helps insulate it and keep temp better, though if you have it in a room where the temps aren't fluctuating it might be okay without insulating the base.

I am quite interested in this incubator!
Thank you!

I have heard many great things about Brinsea's incubators, I have even looked into them. But they are a bit out of my price range. I probably will buy one from Brinsea when in am older though. Thank you!
I wish it felt like spring here! :) It is snowing. :(

That's the great thing about the Incuview. It does everything that the Brinsea does, and is just as reliable, but at a fraction of the cost. The Brinsea is not quite as easy and simple to clean, changing out parts isn't as easy, and they don't have a great reputation for customer service. Incuview is still a better incubator.

Sorry I was not putting down anyone for there choice in incubators the incuview seems to be a fine incubator I though about one my self I had over $400 in my 3 little giants and was not satisfied
I decided to cut my losses and get the Cadillac normally to pricey for me but I had a nice tax return so I treated myself. The antibacterial plastic and ease of cleaning was also a factor
Have a nice hatch

There is an option to get a very solid setup for ~$100. Just takes a little bit of setup to get the rig properly setup and configured. The upside of this is you can start really cheap w/ just the incubator, then add the fan and turner later.

My setup was a Hova-bator incubator ($60). I added a $8 USB computer fan. Then added the little giant egg turner ($40). The PC fan's bolt holes line up perfectly w/ the holes in the hova-bator - just get 4 2" bolts/nuts from the hardware store and hang it about an inch from the top. The cord's for both the fan and the turner fit where the notch is in the incubator. Throw in a basic thermometer w/ humidity and you are all set.

Not much setup and you have a good incubator w/ moving air and egg turner for ~$110 all in. Biggest downside is you have 3 plugs to plug in.

I've hatched 5 or 6 batches of eggs in this setup and its been great.

I ran two incubators side-by side with the same breeding pens represented in them...

1.) Little Giant 9200 still air, styrofoam
******I JUST hatched a reasonably good hatch from this 'bator, so I left the setting the same and put new eggs in it. I thought this was my "safe bet"
******Out of ~20 fertile eggs, 4 hatched 2 days late, 2 with leg issues.

2.) GQF 1202 forced air wooden cabinet 'bator built by a friend of a friend from a kit in the 80's (so I'm told) I was skeptical that this one would work well.
******All except 2 of ~20 fertile eggs hatched
******1 hatched with crooked toes
******All hatched within 26 hours of the "due date" despite having bantams and LF eggs both in the 'bator

Yeah, it seems to me that each hatch can be kind of a gamble. :)
Tomorrow I am putting thirty one eggs into the Incuview as both sellers sent me extra eggs. I told one of them for me it was like Christmas.:)

I have never tried to hatch shipped eggs what is your usual hatch rate of fertile eggs just wondering?

Well, when I have incubated local eggs, I do pretty good. This last time with a test hatch in a new incubator, there was only one clear, the rest developed normally though one got smothered by the chicks rolling the eggs around ( I try not to open the incubator while the hatch is going on so was kicking myself!) and two didn't even externally pip.
As far as shipped eggs, it has been ALL across the board. I have had none hatch and I have had most hatch. I have found over time that shipped eggs in general need extra care and even then there is no guarantee. Buying shipped eggs has been both my greatest disappointment and my greatest joy lol. But if it's a breed I want and I can't get it otherwise, I chance it.
