Incubators, your favorite brand/type and any suggestions

We are looking to purchase an incubator and we are looking for suggestions. Please let me know of your favorite incubator, and why, and any info on bad ones that we should avoid.

Avoid any you can buy at fleet farm lol And I have had the hovabator (it was ok but eventually I needed more room) and now I have a sportsman 1502 and I have had several 100% hatch rates with it

VERY nice but pretty expensive. If your going to be hatching just a few I would go with a hovabator but if your going big eventually I would put that money into a cabinet type plus they are great! AND digital and tells you everything you need to know. YOu turn it on and you walk away. With any smaller ones you have to buy a hygrometer etc and watch it closely...AND if you miss something you lose your hatch. Much easier with the cabinets.

Well go with what you can afford and has the options you want. Figure out what your looking for as far as hatching numbers wise and go from there. Then be like me forget to calculate in for chicken math lol.

What we did was buy a cheaper one to start and then found out we wanted to hatch WAY more then it would allow LOL SO I sold off that one and we got a large one. SO I agree with the the other comment and figure out your budget and also how much effort you want to put into hatching etc. I used to stand guard when I first started but now I'm happy I can just walk away and leave it be. I had to purchase the bucket for on top of the incubator to supply the water but that was it.

You're not kidding, I have a sportsman also and had to order the bucket. I can't keep Humidity up, the air is so dry here I have to fill the tray every day. Put in a wick pad and you'll fill it twice a day. I did learn thjat if I close off the lower vent on the front right, it'll increase the humidity pretty fast.
