I'm new to the hatching of chicks. Right now I have two hens that are doing the work. However, I would like to get an incubator. What brand does everyone suggest and what are the pro's and con's to the brand? Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks

Lisa

You can try using the BYC search bar to search "incubator recommendations" to get others' input on their incubators. There are quite a few threads so hopefully you will find some good information.

Hi :welcome Lisa

Glad you could join the flock! I would recommend that you buy the best you can afford. For me I would go with a Brinsea 100%. They are a little more pricey but are well worth it. They make various models depending on how many eggs you wish to incubate. Also how much you want to be hands on with your incubation. They are a very reliable brand holding temp and humidity well. I have the octagon 20 advance EX model and it's a totally set and forget incubator. It's auto turn and has a humidity pump that manages the humidity for me. All I have to do is candle the eggs and top the water tank up a couple of times during incubation. At lockdown I remove it from the turner and remove the eggs from the dividers. The pump easily gets the humidity up to the required 65% for hatch.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your choice of incubator. Be sure to check out the links that NorthFLChick left for you for more info on other incubators.
