I'm worried about what I'm going to do at lockdown. It looses humidity much too quickly. I suppose I'll try sponges and paper towels at lockdown.

Any other suggestions out there?

how many of the water cups r u keeping full? I only have 2 of the 4 full and am sitting at 52% humidty? is your home air dryer than normal? if you cant keep the humidity up..I'd drill a couple holes and insert bendy drinking straws to reach a couple of the cups..so at lockdown you can add water as necessary without having to remove the lid. I have my 4 cups glued into the bottom, and sitting about an inch away from the outer bator wall...like I said, my humidity and temp have been rock sold now for 48 hours.

have you tried putting some tape over a couple of the air slits at the corners of the windows? give that a try and see if it steadies out your humidity some. or maybe cut up a sponge to fit into the cups and then add water and see if that will hold humidty longer for you.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lapse in communication. My wife got very sick early this week and so I had to take some time off. And . . . well since I've been the mouthpiece for the IncuCube no communication efforts have been made. Rev2 of the IncuCube turner is finished and is being tested as we speak.

We are making a number of changes to the IncuCube Incubator as well:
1) Ventilation Holes & Plugs instead of the gaps in the window tape - We have found that during "lockdown" or any high humidity time of incubation it is possible for the gaps in the window tape to become plugged with water and stop the airflow in/out of the IncuCube.
2) Smaller & Cleaner looking Fan, Thermostat, & Heater Assembly
3) Custom Sanitation Liner/Water tray similar to HovaBator - One piece of plastic with 4 individual water cups (This will still be a few weeks out because the mold needs to be produced before we can produce any.
4) Plastic Mesh instead of Metal Mesh
5) Mounting of Digital Thermometer/Hygrometer - We are working on sourcing a more compact digital thermometer/Hygrometer, but so far we haven't been able to find a suitable replacement (Quality & Price). In the meantime we will be providing removable mounting to mount to the wall of the IncuCube.

I will post tomorrow with some more detail about time frames. We were hoping to have all of the components ready at once, but it doesn't appear that will be happening.

I am a mama hen, as my hubby puts it. I do have a thermometer/hygrometer in there, and do take a look at it as I go to turn...so far so good on a few hatches.

anyway, I just have a couple suggestions for Rev 2.

1. for a smaller thermometer how bout mounting the Brinsea spotcheck on the outside, and then running the wire through a small hole, so then the only thing mounted in the bator is the small probe, taking up almost no space inside the already small bator. I realize this doesn't solve the issue of monitoring humidty, but if you can find a combo thermometer/hygrometer with remote probe as accurate as the spot check, I'd buy it!

2. can you guys make some quail egg trays to fit on top of the egg turner? I need to fit as many quail eggs in that small space as possible.

3. for adding water at lockdown..can you mount some kind of flexible tubing that runs into the water resevoir..so we can add water to the humidity tray without having to take off the lid at all.

As much as I have looked I can not find any air slits in the top of my incCube . Could someone tell me exactly where they are supposed to be?

look at the bottom edges where the window meets the bator walls on the side...at EACH CORNER you'll see there is no tape holding the window down..there is a little air gap about an inch in length at each of the four corner. You gotta look close. you will notice some condensation build up most likely in that area..those are the slots.

We will have replacement turners ready to ship out on Tuesday of next week. The IncuCube Rev2 should be done then too, but there are a few things that could hang up there so we'll just say the turner for sure.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far we have never seen a thermometer/hygrometer with a remote sensor for both, if anyone knows of one please let us know.

randy..sorry I wasn't more clear in my post...I've seen a temp/hygro with remote prob on some exotic bird websites..but I would assume they are fairly expensive. I am thinking more in the lines..of a small hygro mounted INSIDE your bator, where it is easy to see and then a seperate temp and probe, like the brinsea spotcheck for reading temps.

Just a thought.
