Same issue.I had to open the lid to cool it off because I had eggs inside. I had temp turned down to 96 and it was still running hot.

It's a solid bottom, the only vent is on the top, & has a plug, but the vent doesn't help cool it off.Just a thought, but Heather and Mystery, what do you have your Incuviews sitting on? They may have vents underneath, and maybe air isn't circulating enough? Idk. It might be worth trying to elevate it if it has vents in the base.
The only spot I have in my room is by the window, & it's drafty.I moved mine to my spare bedroom to avoid any drafts. It sat on a solid wood changing table top (basically like the top of a dresser). I've heard some to say they placed theirs inside the box the incubator was shipped in. No matter what I did (changed location, temp of location, settings, etc) it'd run perfectly then out of nowhere start up with temp spikes.
I started with mine in my bedroom. I noticed after about 3 days that the temp was running high. I changed the "room temp" setting and left it to stabilize for a couple of days and it was still running warm. I should note that the Incuview thermometer shows it being 99.5 but my calibrated thermometer showed much higher. At times it'd run really well and I was very happy with it and then I walk in to check and see it running at 102.The only spot I have in my room is by the window, & it's drafty.
My incubator's thermometer is reading 99.5, which my calibrated thermometers tell me is a lot higher.I started with mine in my bedroom. I noticed after about 3 days that the temp was running high. Forget the incubator thermometer is even there. My incubator's thermometer is reading 99.5, which my calibrated thermometers tell me is a lot higher.
I cracked one corner with a folded piece of paper towel again. I'll update in a few. I did this earlier, all it did was drop my humidity.
It has now dropped to 99.3°F, reading 101.1°F in the back, & reading 97.9°F in the front.Forget the incubator thermometer is even there.
Pay attention to your calibrated thermometers.
What does your calibrated thermometer read?
Never trust a built in incubator thermometer. It has now dropped to 99.3°F, reading 101.1°F in the back, & reading 97.9°F in the front.
I have a corner cracked open with a folded piece of paper towel, & it's cooperate at the moment.
I was just telling what the incubator itself was reading.
