Incuview Incubator

Pics
My Incuview arrived yesterday, and I was very excited to fire it up and see if I can keep it stable. But I can't get the humidity to go any higher than the "incubate" range. This morning I noticed that the lid isn't fitting on properly, and one of the walls of the base appears a little bowed out.

Do you all have any troubles getting the lid to go on right? I noticed right away yesterday that it is very finicky about getting all corners to snap together. Today I can only get two corners at a time.

I think I'm gong to have to call the company later when they are open.

For something so expensive, it seems like they don't waste any plastic where the base and lid come together. I read up on this thread a lot, and other incuview posts before settling on this model, and I hadn't come across anyone saying that it's tricky to make the lid seat properly or that it was cheaply made.
I vaguely remember some lid problems.
Is the base on a flat surface?
Call the company, they have been very good at fixing problems.

OK, now this is very strange! Since it wasn't fitting together this morning I just unplugged it and left the lid sitting there sort of loose, not snapped down, and went away to let it cool off before I dumped the water out of the channels. Went back about an hour later, and NOW the humidity is up in the hatch range! What gives? Do you actually need to have the lid ajar?

Come to think about it, I never did remove the vent plug. Maybe I made myself a circulation problem. I'm going to give it another test run. But I still don't like that the lid doesn't fit.

Yes, I have heard great things about the company, so I hope this is something fixable. :)

Good point about flat surface.  I'll go check.  I have it on top of a metal fling cabinet, so there may be some potential for that to be bowed.  Thank you!

I would see if hey would give u a new one and return the other one

You might be experiencing the same problem I had. I removed the lid as I wanted to add a little water to the tray. When I tried to "fasten" it back, it wouldn't fit -like it had suddenly become warped or something!
I kept trying -- and getting more frustrated.
I finally yelled at the husband (he put it together for me -- I hate doing stuff like that, reading directions, etc. ... )

Anyway, the little rocker arm (that turns the eggs) was out of the slot. You have to make sure the rocker arm is aligned w/ the slot -- otherwise, you'll get one side of the lid down, but not the other. It's actually the arm stopping the lid.

@Finnie There's a lot of variables.....
In setting up an incubator, especially a new to you one, give yourself 3-4 days to watch and adjust and learn.
Not sure if you've hatched before, but any incubator needs a couple hours after an adjustment to ...well, adjust -and stabilize....before taking a reading.

I do make sure the arm is in the slot, but I wonder if the position of the arm makes a difference. I was assuming that just fitting the arm into the slot would then slide the tray no matter what position the arm was in, but not affect the walls. hm...

I just asked him again.
He said the arm doesn't move much, and you should be able to get the arm back in the slot and the lid down, even if you have to slightly move the tray.
If it's not working, not sure --
I had a couple humidity questions (I bought the external humdikit w/ mine since I live in a very dry climate) and called Incubator Warehouse (I think it was late Friday) for some help and left a message. I got a call back Monday from Ian, who walked me through a couple things and answered my questions (again ... I hate reading directions),

Thank you, aart. Yes, I am a total nube! I'll definitely play around with it and get to know it well before setting any eggs. Lol, that's how I figured out I had left the vent plug in! And I am not going to make any decisions about temperature until I can calibrate some thermometers and hygrometers to put in and evaluate how the built in one compares.

However, I do think there is an issue with the plastic pieces not fitting together. It's as though the corners of the white part stick out too far to fit the clear part over them. I can get one or two clear corners hooked over the white plastic corner, but then the third and fourth white corners extend too far beyond the clear. I think yesterday when I "thought" I had it clicked down, it actually was not.

It looks as if a dremel to shave off some white could work, but I won't try that. I'm not good enough with a dremel. I'm just waiting until the company opens. I'm in eastern time zone, and I believe they are in central. I'm sure once I talk to them, they will have advice for me.
