Incuview Incubator

Pics

I set them in cartons that were propped so that they were tilted with one side a bit higher. But turning all of them was a bit of a pain, and it was too easy to over-rotate and under-rotate them each turn. Plus the surface area of all the cartons made getting an accurate humidity reading was almost impossible. The humidity was all over the place until it was clear which were the infertile ones and they were removed. Once there was enough room to put them in the turner, set normally, the humidity was fine. I did have a few that pipped at the wrong end, indicating they had trouble getting into the proper hatch position. Probably because of the of my outstanding egg turning skills.

Oh well, lesson learned. Pay better attention to which side is facing, and log it.
Did those cartons have the bottoms cut out?
When I used cartons to hatch, I cut about as much as I could away(bottom of each cell, top of each protuberance in between cells and sides down low)
while still allowing the carton to keep the eggs upright.

Maybe just tip the whole incubator side to side for 'turning'.....unless water reservoirs would 'spill'.

Oh, I see how you did it. You can definitely fit more eggs into the incuview that way. I think Aart's suggestions about using the cartons could make it work. And there could have been other reasons for your 50% hatch rate besides that anyway.

Hello, I am new to incubating, but all I can say is WOW. I love this Incuview incubator! My first time trying to hatch 18 Black Copper Marans eggs, I used a Little Giant still air incubator and I got a 50% hatch rate. My second attempt with 12 Welsummer eggs, same incubator, 0% hatch. I could never get temperature to stay consistent. This time I used the Incuview incubator with 26 eggs (16 Blue Coppers and Black Copper Marans and 10 Ameraucanas). 24 of 26 hatched. A 92% hatch rate is great. Never had a problem with the humidity or temperature (although half did hatch 1 day early). I am so glad that I found this Incuview incubator. Won't ever use anything else. Diana

Glad to hear of your success!

Hi! My name is Diana, too! Not that many of us around.

Welcome to BYC. That's great that you had such a good hatch with your Incuview. I've been very happy with mine so far.

I set 18 Ancona duck eggs in my Incuview on June 8. This is the first time I have tried incubating. One of my ducks hatched out a dozen last summer, but I want to be able tosell ducklings, so started the Incuview. So far the temperature is holding steady at 99.5 but I am concerned that the humidity is running too high. I put only about a forth cup water in the outside tray and the hydrometer is registering as high as 77% except if I open the lid for some reason. Can anyone give me a list of all the abbreviations used in the control module? I don't know if there is any way to adjust the humidity. We are having rainy, wet, cool weather up here in northwest Washington State, so I wonder if that is part of the problem. Some on the duck forum talk about incubating at like 35% humidity, so I feel really concerned that I may be spoiling this hatch with these high humidities. Any help or thoughts will be so appreciated.
