INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Guess who got stuck in the coop this evening.... yeah, me. The door shut behind me and the latch closed. We had a wire rigged to the inside to pull the latch up, but it must have gotten stuck on some chicken wire or a peice of wood. I messed with it for about 15 min with my fingers through the door frame until it popped open. I usually have my phone with me when I go out, but didn't grab it. You would also think after a while my husband would come looking for me. No, all he said was " but, you really like your chickens, and I thought you were just spending time with them." I don't know how long he would have waited. Probably until one of the kids asked where I was.
Anyway, Houdini lives yet another day.

Glad you got out. I got stuck in one of my old runs before. I only had the lock on the outside and the run was covered. My sons were in there with me and they decided to go inside the house and when they went out the gate they locked it so the chickens would get out. Well I was feeding and watering them and when i went to go out the gate I couldnt. So i just started talking and playing with the chickens. My wife comes out like 30 min later and she asked what i was doing i said ummm just playing with the chickens because Im locked in. She just laughed and asked why i didnt yell for someone. I told her it didnt bother me the chickens needed some attention anyways. LOL

Just go buy a bunch of short black rubber bungy straps. Take the hooks off and cut the strap in half. Thats what i am going to do.

Today is day 20 that the quail have been incubating. Besides the 6 that hatched, there hadn't been any other change with the other 5 eggs. So I decided to crack them open and see what was going on. 1 was infertile or quit very very early on. The other 4 developed pretty far, but didnt have their yolks all absorbed. Ill have to go through the forum and see if an incubating error on my part could be the cause of those 4 to quit. Overall I'm happy with the results and the 6 are still going strong.
