INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Here is the most recent hatch from the last couple days. One of the partridge showgirls is a little older but just put her in for pictures to. All the showgirls are from my flock and the white silkie, serama, and orloff were from an assortment of shipped eggs.

I love this little showgirl. The base color is much lighter than all the others including the partridge silkies I've raised up. Can't wait to see how she grows up (and yes, all these chicks are girls until proven otherwise! Gotta think positive!)

cute chicks! How many hatches have you done this year? I swear you have new chicks every week lol!

well i have been to central indiana before. Never durig witer though. I love sniw and winter, I am never moving out of indiana, not even out of the county i am currently in. I love it here. Although i could put up with some more snow and cooler summers.

I'd settle for northern Indiana :) I don't know where exactly you are but I spent a summer working in the area between Napanee and Ft. Wayne and it was beautiful up there! I grew up just north of Indy and the west side is a compromise between mine and DHs family so here we will probably stay.

My adress says bluffton, but i am way closer to liberty center. But almost no one knows where liberty center is so I just go with bluffton. I am about 45mins from fort wayne

Ok,

After "weathering the storm" earlier this week and trying to beat today's first snow I was able to shoot the cover I use to deter the hawks in my area.
Hope it helps you and thank you for your patience.

Thanks! (Okay, I know I said I was going to bed but one last post :D )

Thought I'd put it here so folks wouldn't have to go out to see it:

And another byc friend showed us what she's done on the Natural Chicken Keeping Thread:

Ah yep I recognize both of those. There were a few farms we worked near you. :) I was based out of North Manchester, it's really pretty up there!

Before I got my freezerI was using plastic garbage cans. They work really good.
We use plastic storage totes with lids -- not sure the actual size off hand, but large enough that an entire 50 lb. bag fits in it. We've done this for at least 7 years for our rabbit feed and now with the chicken feed. So far haven't had any problems with the feed staying fresh or mice chewing holes -- just had a problem with a lid cracking & that was only because my 12 year old son decided to sit on it!
