INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

But like someone said earlier... I'm in WV so too far t travel to pick up a couple. I so want a breeding pair. Not for show but just for me. They are beautiful! And soooo fluffy!

I travel through Wheeling to visit my sister in PA, maybe this summer I can bring you a couple, lol! It would be hilarious riding with Chooks for 5 1/2 hours... No, no maybe more annoying... Anyways... Just a thought to ponder!

The snow inspired me to whip up some buckwheat pancakes and let me tell you, they were awful. We all have bad days, I guess...
I spent the entire morning making pancakes for the chickens. Waste not, want not. Happy snow day, Chooks!

Thank you, he is disturbingly pretty and yes, a Partridge Cochin bantam. My friend purchased 3 different sets of chicks from CL. I believe he was from the oldest set of "pullets", which all turned into roos.

He DOES not like the snow.

I played "chicken" all morning with my crew, pun intended. I was interested in whether they would go out in the snow or not. The only water was outside in a heated bowl. As of 12:45 not one print in the snow. I had to shovel before any of them would exit the coop, and there is only about 1" on the ground. What total wimps! All but three of them are under a year old so this may be the first time most of them have seen snow. I am hoping they get over this since winter arrived early and with a serious kick this year!

Sigh...I thought I was pretty clear to both you and Brad that you are only to post ugly pictures of them doing undesireable things! You have got to STOP posting these ADORABLE pictures! it's making me crazy!!!

My coop has an optimal chicken per space factor and I have already reached it.

Aww. I will have plenty next spring. Blue, Black, white, splash, and hopefully more partridge.

Yeah, our boys like to have the occasional spit fight -- especially when they get some fresh hay. It's not like we don't give enough for each of them & they're gonna starve -- just like little kids not wanting to share! And our one dog tends to clash with one of the alpacas and every now and then he's covered in bits of hay from being spit on -- we know he's been barking at Hershey too much. And it's easy to tell which stall is the alpacas' because there's bits of hay stuck to the walls all over! But they've never spit at us...

Nora, our spitter, spits on us during monthly herd health. Symphony our multicolored girl is preggers and hormonal and is now spitting too.
Hey now I don't discriminate! Everyone is welcome to one of my silkies!
Hopefully you can fill all these winter orders. :) I am not hatching until spring. I am going to let my frequent broodies do the hatching. I don't trust my incubator. It has temp holding issues.

I hope everyone is staying warm this morning! I'm enjoying the snow here!

My cows are ok with it.

I think my chickens would be happy if the white stuff went away

Even though I wish it was still warmer the snow is beautiful -- and so is your cow! The silly chickens in the 2nd pic made me laugh!

Only 1 inch, we have at least 5 in some places in our yard and around the fence it is at least a foot high from drifting.
The 4 breeding chickens are staying inside. The ducks and my laying production hen made it out for about an hour but stayed under the covered part of the run where there was no snow. Then once they were back in I tossed the roosters from the rooster pen into the covered run. They are not amused but I want them out of that tiny 4*8 pen for a bit. Before the snow came they would roam the entire yard during the day leaving plenty of room in the pen for snoozing but not all day activities.
