Oh, I would like being outside doing things than cleaning inside. I was raised out on a farm with like 5 channels on tv, so we just went out and built forts, played in the creek, rode bikes ect. It's trying to keep the kids occupied while I do it. I don't mind them getting muddy, but it goes quicker if they aren't under my feet.
From what I have read...the main difference is that Ameraucanas are specific colors that BREED TRUE...like black will always breed black. Most EE's are Ameraucana MIXES that still carry the same blue or green egglaying genes but will no longer BREED TRUE. True Ameraucanas can really only be gotten from dedicated breeders - most of what the hatcheries sell as Ameraucanas are actually "mutt" chickens that will still lay multi-colored eggs. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with having EE's. I love mine and they lay wonderfully for me. Most EE's look very much alike, they will simply not BREED TRUE to the Ameraucana standard colors even if they look like they may be those colors. Can I ask something here without getting my head bitten off?
What is the difference between EEs and Ameraucanas? If they are the same breed just different colors, why are they called something else? I am just trying to understand. I believe I have ameraucanas but the Ameraucana thread on here got pretty nasty and I don't care to go back there to ask. Can anyone help me with this? Here are some pictures of my chicks.
I was told I had 1 black, a silver, a wheaton and 3 blue wheaton and 1 chick they weren't sure what color it woud be. The odd ball could be an EE but the rest look like they should as chicks according to the pictures I was sent for the standard for the breed.
It was my understanding that EE was more of a mix breed chicken that lays multiple egg colors but the Ameraucana only lay blue eggs. Can I ask something here without getting my head bitten off?
