Killing me! but my incubators are full :(

I have no Bator!! I'm dying. I wanna get some eggs and start. I mean, if I get hatching eggs It'll be atleast a month or a little less before they leave the brooder right? So id have plenty of time to atleast get a semi permanent dwelling up until the coop for them is up right? :( My mom keeps saying 'No! We don't have room and we don't need more!' My dad though is saying yes but I haven't got a bator yet!! Grr, I'm going to look on sites to see if I can buy one cheap. We would use a homemade on but no thermostat or humidity checking equipment is going to end badly if I do I'm afraid. Out of 14 last year I got one!

I must wait and its killing me! But atleast the snow is going on its way. Hopefully by next week it'll all be gone. Hopefully and it better be.

Kabhyper, out of curiousity how many eggs do your silkies lay? I should be getting some wood to start on the coop for some birds and my grandfather may have a brooder I can use so now I just need the 'bator. :) Perfect situation for me. I don't macs much patience and this winter has been plenty long.

So much waiting. :(

There are splash ameraucanas. But it is not an accepted color, so then some AM people throw a fit if you dont call them splash EEs. Some say non-standard ameraucanas. Wit all the termanology (sp) people get easily confused. People try and give color names to EEs, but I don't.If I am going to call it something it would be exactly what it looks like. I would call her splash peach. Call her whatever color you want, there is no standard so no one can tell you you are wrong.
I have BBS ameraucanas. None for sale right now, but I may in the summer. If my current ever start laying. Plus I am getting a shipment from Paul and Angela Smith, depending on ratio on male to female, I might have a few I want to get rid of. I definatly want to get a nice trio out of them maybe 2 and I am getting 15. I will be able to tell sex for sure by july at the latest. I am pretty sure Brad has BC marans.
I have been talking to Brad, the bbs means the Sm ones right?

Yes I'm aware of how much, an Indiana breeder Schroeder farms has them he is in the breeder association, he will sell $10 a chick, but straight run only, I'm really needing pullets, and I can't find anyone to shell out money like I'm willing in my area for quality birds and to take the ones I don't need

The ones I got are straight run too. Hope you come across something

This will be my first time experiencing walking past chicks in the store when I know I have the ability to take them home! YIKES!!! How do you guys hold onto self control? Or do you avoid the store? Or do you just bring home new chicks every time you go to the farm store? :) Crap, I had better minimize my exposure and stock up on a few months worth of horse/chicken feed and bedding. If only my truck wasn't still snow drifted in.....guess it will be multiple trips with my car and many batches of chicks. No self control here.

I was also stalking Ideal's site again, and pretty much every breed is now sold out until May or June. That tells me they are helping stock many of these farm stores! Hmmmmm, what if they have cochins in my farm store!!! Obsessed!!!!
I will admit, I buy chicks every time lol ! I only every get easter eggers though, because any other breed I want SQ stock. You can't really get SQ stock with EEs since they aren't showable.
How well do your polish lay? As far as I know, I've not gotten an egg from either of mine yet.
I got one about two months ago, very oblong egg. Nothing since.

They have been laying around 4 a day. I usually stick them in the fridge, but I saved this dozen back for someone, now I have to find someone to take them. I hate using silkie eggs for food when so many people are looking for eggs.
