I am not sure. I can tell you they aren't EEs, I would venture to say they are mixed breeds. Maybe somewhere down the line they have EE in their ancestry, but by its looks nowhere recently (meaning mom or dad)
Well that sucks!! DH is going to expect lots of colored eggs..., and how can a " BREEDER " say they are 1 thing and they be something else. going to make DH show me where he got them.

Woah....seems like years since I've been here last. Short summary, we picked our favorites, culled the least liked (they were delicious!) and added extra run space! Our favorite EE rooster FINALLY graced us with a crow last week and hasn't stopped since and yesterday (Our wedding anniversary) we were graced with our first 2 eggs! Caught a sweet BPR in the act this morning as well! What a journey this not quite a year has been! I hope everyone else has been doing well! Will check back after I'm all caught up!

So great to see you! Sounds like a lot going for you too, congrats on the eggs!

My test hatch went very well with my new incubator. 11 of 12 eggs hatched. All 4 legbars hatched (all boys....sigh) And 5 of 6 Bresse/Bresse Legbar eggs hatched. The other two were wyandotte mixes. The unhatched looks like it stopped development around halfway.

So I am now opening up to take orders for eggs and chicks. I'm going to start with people here on the Indiana thread to give you all first pick. I am going on vacation (hooray!) next week, and will start collecting eggs for orders when I return.

Here is what I have to offer:

American Bresse (AB)- Breeding pen has 2 roos and 8 pullets/hens) brown eggs, color varies from just tinted to medium brown. All have proper coloring. Impressive red crest and wattles, white feathers, blue legs. Males get big and meaty with a quite impressive carcass at 22-24 weeks. Females also good sized and lay very well. I average 25+ eggs/week

Crested Cream Legbars (CCL)
- Breeding pen has 1 roo and two hens. Blue/blue-green eggs, both hens have crests, but that doesn't mean all hatchlings will. Both Roo and hens have decent coloring for the breed and all have yellow legs. This breed is still a work in progress, as the many legbar threads on BYC can show. I get about 10-12 eggs/week

.

Hatching Eggs:
AB - $3 each
CCL - $3 each

Chicks:
AB - 1-10 $11ea 11-20 $10ea 20+ $8ea
CCL - pullet: $25 cockerel:$10 pair: $30

I can also be talked into swapping or bartering.

PM me if you are interested. If you have already mentioned to me that you want some, your name is on the list, but pm me so we can talk about how many you want.
PM'ing LOL

I caved. I plan on getting my pullets friday, but I couldn't resist these two little ones. They were the smallest in the brooder, and getting ran over, soooo I brought them home. Just two of them, I think they are khaki campbell, but I really don't know. They were straight run all breeds. I guess it will be a surprise. :) We are giving them flock raiser and poly vi sol for niacin, is there anything else they need? I am completely dumb when it comes to ducks. They have a little stuffed doggy in the brooder and they love it. One little guys will not shut up. Omgoodness, its a loud one.

Usually noisier babies are the girls, at least thats how it went with the pekins. KCs are a good all purpose duck, and look a little like a mallard.
Congrats, you will just love them.

I have never seen an EE with that coloring and not feathered legs. I did have a black AM x black Cochin (she just looked like a poorly sized and feathered bantam Cochin). It kind of like why do hatcheries label their EEs ameraucanas. We may never know lol

You never know, they may have a genetic throwback and drop colored eggs. :) I' waiting to see if pickles does. She is half silver laced wyandotte, but has her mothers EE beard and shape. Cricket looks like an EE roo, but with wild colors. :) I think it's exciting to see what they will turn into. As far as the skittish behavior, they probably need handled more. Maye they will take treats from you. My Sl/W pullets were all nutz! When they were little fluff balls they were flying all over and dozing the other chicks over. They will chill out. They just lean on the dominate side of things.

What kind of treats can you give Chicks this sm? I really hope they chill out before he/she knocks himself/herself out on them bars, cause I'm not going to stop watching them... and when those beaks get a little bit stronger I will be walking around with gloves on just to feed and water... o and scoop poop... lol

That little feather legged sure has an ee face. I'll bet they are a mix. But, they will still be beautiful I'm sure.
I think they are will be... never seen an ugly chicken... wait take that back, but that just MOP

I just hand feed mine feed. They think it is a treat because it's in your hand lol.

My hubby is being a helicopter dad to the ducklings. I told him they are his, and apparently I am handling them too much. HA! For someone who couldn't give two hoots about the chickens, he sure is attentive to those two ducks.
