INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Are you changing then from the medium bodies to the deeps on all your hives? We've always started with 1 deep then added on a super and then additional deeps as they needed more room. Nucs are on 5 deep frames. Whenever we get comb built up that we have to scrape off, we give it to the chickens. They love the larvae, honey and comb. Great to hear another person loves beekeeping and chickens!

no just my bottom box will be deep the rest will be mediums. As the nucs i got last year were on 5 deep frames i had to take out frames from 2 boxes to fit in the frames. this year some of my new hives are going to be 10 frames but when they aren't i'm buying deep frames to fill the empty slots. I really like medium hives but to have a easier time/less tasks when checking the hives i made a slight modification. also if i get a swarm from my hives this year they would all go in a medium hive

. i haven't yet found a person that sells nucs on mediums but they are gaining popularity so perhaps in a few years i will.

Also -Meyer Hatchery actually states that their birds ARE Ameracauna - they address the EE/A issue by saying "not to be confused with EE - as these ARE a pure breed" -- anyone know if that is true or not?  THAT would be the one hatchery that I could see having set themselves up for legal issues if they are not selling true Ameraucanas.  They also sell EEs so I can't see why they'd go to so much trouble to make a false assertion about their Ameracaunas

I've heard Meyers ameraucanas are actually good birds. They also sell EE's separately.

Got my babies and am heading home...amazing, but not a peep out of any of them. Thanks bradselig for the chicken train and the 3 most adorable chicks I've ever seen! Thanks sallyinindiana for the roo...he all but purred when I closed the door on the carrier. Thank you for the transport.

If anyone on here knows of any bees available please let me know. My two hives did not make it through the winter and I know of a lot of the local hives around me didnt make it. I cant find any bees for sale. They were last year but that was last year, after this winter its a new ballgame. I am desperate for two packages or even just one.

I now have my very own blue sumatra chickens.  Thank you so much LAM and Brad for making it possible.
It was nice seeing you again! You got some beautiful birds! I also was able to meet lonelypageturner! She practically cleared out my brooders ;). Obviously I also saw LittleAmeraucanaMom and picked up some BEAUTIFUL chickens. I went for a silkie, showgirl, and modern hens but she practically twisted my arm to take a pair of bantam Cornish as well! I'm so glad I got them! Very cool, compact birds!

I got an email from rural king that you could order bees off their website if I remember correctly.

Hey guys another question! Would any of you be willing to donate hatching eggs (especially colorful ones..dark, white, brown, cream, pink, green and blue as I think the kids would love that) to my son's school, as they do a project hatching chickens to learn. I'd love to be able to give them colorful eggs as I think they would love it and also it would keep them from using hatchery eggs. Everyone who wanted them could have the chicks from their eggs, and if a few people chipped in with some I'm sure I'd get enough without too big a burden on any one person. I could also pay for the eggs, though not a ton. And like I said, you can have your birds back, I think they only keep the chicks for a couple of days. Please consider it!

I live in southwest Michigan and am trying to make a whizbang plucker. The problem I am running into is finding a 14 or 16 inch pulley to use. I was curious if anybody has one laying around that I could pay to have shipped to me or pick up from you if you live close enough. Also any imput or websites where I could locate one cheap with also be appreciated. Thanks everyone.
