Me 4! Us Indiana BYCers are a very helpful bunch!

Been so busy that I've been missing out on what's been going on with the Indiana BYC thread.

Thanks so much to jchny2000 for getting me set up with some quail eggs for hatching. I'm eggcited for the hatch that is due in 4-6 days when I should have lots of little peepers running around.

My silkie/d'uccle mixed rooster named "Winter" that hatched at Christmas is continuing to feather out just beautifully and is turning into the most handsome roo I think I've ever seen - photos just aren't doing him justice:

We're working on renovating the chicken shed and my hubby has converted an old business display case into a great brooder. I'll try to get some photos to post of that. I love seeing photos of what other people are doing - it's a great way to get ideas.

Spring is finally-finally-finally here! I am so relieved!

Does anyone on this thread have worm farms? I am interested in getting an earthworm farm and a meal worm farm going this year and would appreciate any tips. Thanks!

Bargersville here!  We raised a flock of Rhode Island Red/Plymouth Rocks last year but every last one of them turned out to be the meanest darned roosters and we got rid of them.  We just ran across freshly orphaned Black Duck eggs (trust me, mama is gone) and we are incubating those.  Seven little eggies, all viable after candling and seem to be around 8 days today.  :)

Andrew from naptown chickens gets some of his chickens from Bargersville.

My pretty Cricket went to his new home tonite. Thanks Raisnemright and family for giving him a good home. I'm sad, but I know he will be happy there. :)
Is that a blue lace silver???? In the background? Sigh that's the project I really really wanted to work on but decided I didn't have time. So jealous. The roo is gorgeous too.

Gorgeous roo! Seeing these silkie mixes makes me want some.

I've been tossing around the idea of an Indy BYCr meetup, but some of the BYCrs that I KNOW are in Indy haven't posted recently (toodlesmom, vickichickie, etc)
Maybe we'll have to meet at Jockamos for pizza and beer sometime in the near future.

hey hey!!! i'm in Indy too and i LOVE Jockamos!!!!

pginsber ~ They would probably appreciate being asked-- and any others who haven't posted for a while. toodlesmom's brother (the one who was planning to build her coop) has cancer, so that's why she hasn't been posting very often. Last I heard, vickiechickie just had too much work going on. They both could use a night of fun and chicken talk.

I thank you for letting us have him. I have always thought he was the best looking rooster ever! My kids havent put him down lol. I now have his girls with him and they seem to be getting along great. Thank you again and you know, you can always come see him anytime!!! (and thanks for helping me sex some of my chicks in their new home.)
Haha. So much for your wife say that the Cochins were the last new chickens!
