High had my phone and look what I caught on camera finally!

okay i am going to drive everyone crazy with my questions about this chick and i am sorry but i can't help it. here is a picture of the chick/egg here is a picture of it. i don't know if this will help or not. i know i is alive because i can see it breathing and it seems to struggle every once in awhile like its trying to get out. i haven't removed any chicks yet so there is at least 20 chicks in there running around, there are at least two more eggs that have external pips, and some left that i don't see any pips but don't know about for sure. the incubator has a fan temp is at 97 degrees and humidity is at about 76%. i am sorry to keep bugging every one but i am really torn as what to do. i don't want the chick to die because i didn't help but i don't want to kill the chick and others because i did try to help.

has the shell been zipped anywhere else but that spot you took a picture of? Very rarely have I seen a chick zip open that large of an area unless its stuck amd they keep eork at the same area. While I may be impatient, I would take it out and pull the rest of the chicks out too. If I remembrt correctly its goin on the 2-3 day the oldeat have been in there. They need to come oit soon anyways.

It sounds to me like you have conditions perfect to give that chick a good chance to finish on its own. I recently had to help a BCM hatch. It had managed to externally pip, but at the wrong end of the egg. I left it for 36 hours with no progress and waited until all the others had hatched. It was only then that I gave it a helping hand. Turns out it was upside down in the egg, with its tail against the air cell instead of the head. Once I opened the shell enough for it to move, it completed the hatch on its own. It's doing great now. Yours looks to be perfectly positioned in the shell. If it doesn't have other problems that you can't see yet, it should be fine. I would definitely wait until the other pipped eggs hatch at a minimum.

Thank you every one who has/is helping me. I don't see where it has zipped/pipped any place else. I am going to try to continue being patient. I keep checking it about every two seconds to make sure I see it breathing. The oldest chicks in there hatched Saturday morning. I just checked on it again and its chirping away. To me sounds like its crying for help. I will be strong. Thank you again every one.

In other news I got an email over the weekend that my chicks from Walt's Ark are supposed to ship tomorrow. They were going to ship today, but Colorado got hit with a snow storm and the chicks have to go through Denver. So if the weather allows my chicks will ship tomorrow.
I also think I now have a broody oegb. She wasn't in her normal spot last night when I was counting chickens so I climbed up into the loft of the chicken coop and there she was sitting on a nest and when I asked her what she thought she was doing she growled at me and got all puffed up. This afternoon I went to check again on her and she was still there. If she stays I will probably mark a couple of the eggs she is sitting on and let her hatch them. I have chick overload here.

I would not think sent would be a problem. If it is in the barn or neer the coup the human smell would be all around. If this was in the woods or by a pond I would say boil your trap and wear rubber gloves.

What do I do!!! I just found a baby bird in my newly planted chamomile! Its still mostly pink and the eyes aren't even opening a lot!! Do I move it? I can't just leave it, it will die where it's at. I can't even imagine how it got there as there's no place for a nest even close by. Ahhh help!!

As annoying as the rabbits are, I'm squeamish about catching and relocating them when they may have babies somewhere.  I just can't do it. The last time I tried to catch the mink I didn't handle the cage much, used sardines as bait and made a "tunnel" out of it with hay.  I think the *$%#$ mice ate all my bait before the mink got there.  Not really sure.  I am going to try liver this time around and see if that works but I'm not sure if the mice will eat that also. I figured with all the grain on the ground in the area the mice would have better things to eat, but the bait was gone and no mink was caught.

I will be making cages tonight, I really need to make about 70 of them to cover the new 40 trees, 15 new bushes (barberry and plum leaf hedge since y'all wouldn't let me plant the burning bushes I bought) and 15 new rosebushes, lilacs, grasses and butterfly bushes. I WILL NOT be making 70 of them lol.  Just going to have to cover what I know they have "sampled" and go from there.

Oh, ya. I don't relocate animals. I eat them.

If there's not a nest nearby, it was probably dropped there by a cat. The chick is as good as gone, sorry. Nothing to do.
If you do find a nest(they can be sneaky) put it back and hope for the best.
