INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Elegance isn't an issue! Lol practicality is more important to me really. I thought of trying to find something "flat" and heavy with a hole in the middle that I could put an eyebolt into. If it were flat it would help press the feed down the pipe. Last winter I ran into a small issue with these feeders, did you have any problems like this...when the weather was severely cold after a short warming up spell the feed would stick to the sides of the pipe on the inside, I'd have t put my hand down in or use a "dish mop" to push the feed down and keep the pipe clean and feed moving freely.

I just built them this spring so time will tell! I did build them with the 3" pipe instead of the 2" pipe so they are a bit bigger around. I wish I had gone with the 4" pipe! Some of them are little piggies and I'm still filling them every other day!

...... Eating poop generally is a bad idea for a number of reasons,
Yeah, I really don't like to eat poop either, but our dogs think that chicken poop is candy! Eeeeewwww!!

Our dogs LOVE the luscious little nuggets the chickens leave, too. The dogs will trip me to get to any chicken feed I spill when I'm filling the feeder.

Last fall, our puppy ate a cicada--for a few seconds--then when the cicada started screeching, the dog was running around the backyard like crazy with its' mouth wide open (cicada screech coming out) pawing at her mouth to get the bug out.

Last weekend, our barn cat left me a chipmunk who's head was separated from it's body. By the time I got something to pick it up with and went back, the body was missing too. Only the face was left staring up from the dirt.

At this point, I'm convinced our dogs will eat anything.

I'm thinking of listing my genesis 1588 incubator with turner on craigslist. I'm offering it here first for $140. A new genesis 1588 and turner with shipping costs $199 and some odd cents from Incubator warehouse.

Our compost pile is a favorite dining spot too. They seem to know whenever we've dumped more stuff on it. As soon as they're let out of the barn they make a beeline for the bin. Compost is preferred as a gourmet treat over their regular food!
