Looks like a BB Red Bantam to me.

My babies are growing up!!!! My 6 week old hedemora roo and my 16 week old Isbar roo both started crowing this morning. It was hilarious and sounded more like high pitched dinosaur shrieks than crows. Hilarious!!! Also funny, I walked in the Isbar pen this morning to scatter some food and wasn't paying attention. My clingy Marans and Barred Rock pullets all trooped in the pen right behind me ready for some breakfast. The Isbars all ran back to the coop looking concerned at the invaders and I yelled and started trying to herd them out. I got them back out without issue but I guess I need to pay better attention in the future!

Really frustrated with Purdue at this point. I still don't have an answer on Gregor. It has been 6 days and for the fees they charge I am really mad that it is taking this long. When I used the University of Missouri I had an answer within 2 days and they were a third of the price.... not happy, especially because if it is something serious I have delayed action and treatment for another week at this point. I called up there twice yesterday and finally had a student call me back, still no definitive answer. She said there were no tumors and no lesions but she is saying she thinks it is Mareks, but then said that she couldn't say that with certainty until another doctor with more experience on Mareks weighed in. I kept pressing as to why they are saying Mareks when there were no tumors and no lesions and I kept asking when they could tell me for sure and got no real answer. I kind of feel like they are going with the EASY diagnosis, especially if they can't tell me WHY they are saying Mareks. Plus I am now starting to panic over the potential Mareks diagnosis. I am going to be heartbroken if I have to watch them die off one at a time. If it is Mareks I will try vaccinating and will obviously be closing off my flock completely, but 26 of my 30 birds are in the "danger age" of being really susceptible to Mareks so now I am really depressed.
I bet it was hilarious watching you flap your arms and hollering trying to get the birds out of the Isbar pen.

I would encourage you not to consider a diagnosis of Marek's as a death sentence. Not all Marek's-positive birds die. We had a bird that had strange neurological symptoms and was unable to use her legs. We eventually euthanized her at a vet's office, and we didn't send her to be necropsied because she was a pet and we wanted to bury her.
She was vaccinated at the breeders as a chick against Marek's, so she may or may not have died from the disease. 6 of our other birds were also vaccinated at the breeders, I vaccinated 1 as a chick our broody hatched, and one of our birds was a packing peanut that was never vaccinated. We've not had any further Marek's-like symptoms from our flock, so who really knows what she was afflicted with.

I have a new, unopened vial of Marek's vaccine. If you chose to vaccinate your birds, I'll glady sell it to you for a little less than what I paid for it. I bought it to re-vaccinate my chicks at the one-month timepoint, but I never re-vaccinated them. I hated to open the first vial for only 3 chicks, and I just couldn't bring myself to open the second vial. PM me if you're interested in the vaccine and diluent.

So I happen to stubble across a Craigslist ad of a person selling 7 silkies. In the ad they mentioned buying them from a breeder in Warren, not a hatchery. Come to find out they were chicks from my birds and needless to say I bought them back lol. The unfortunate part is they turned out to be 6 cockerels and one pullet lol. But After seeing this guy I knew it was worth it!

There are also several others that turned out very nice. I'll work on pictures of the others here soon.

Sooooo, aside from my ongoing fight with Purdue and my sick/potentially sick chicken stress....I have been working on a chicken related website project for the last couple of months and am hoping a few of you breeders might be willing to help me with the site in trade for free advertising for a year. The concept is a classified ads website strictly for Show Quality/Breeder Quality/Rare breeds. Basically craigslist just for high quality poultry and a better way to search outside your immediate town. Please PM me if you are interested in being a test dummy and helping me out on the site and I will send you the website and more info, it shouldn't require a big time commitment and should help drive you breeders some business at the same time! Or if you are just nosy and want to poke around and give me some feedback that is ok too.

I am hoping to get it launched this week and start getting ads up this weekend. I will be advertising the site too. I contacted BYC about advertising rates and got no response....most people want advertising revenue!

Quote: It is my understanding that the more land the more they don't rely on their owner for food. Our spot would be a bit small for providing all of their food but enough that they would have room to play and be goats.

editing to say thank you for the link @Leahs Mom I have spent lots of time on the site. It is full of information. Sometimes I get a bit lost in it though. I've got some books on hold at the library but those too can be a bit much for a first time goat owner let alone someone who has not spent any real time around goats.

It is doing better. The children are completely back to normal. I have a few places left. The children were able to take allergy meds but not me. For at least the next 9 months I need to avoid any allergy medicine as well as sinus meds. Just one of those things that goes with having a baby. I can use tropical lotions and oils though. A goat is not an option right now but it sure was sounding great when I really really wanted the meds.

Forgot about the goat conversation I had with you when I first got on this forum. Oh yeah, want goat for the baby-the baby and no antihistamines. The natural stuff and oils have helped me more than even prescription meds. My son cuts lawns, he brought home poison ivy and I ended up with it when he needed help handling the 5 gallon gas can - he got it on the gas can, I helped him and touched my neck apparently .... Tea tree oil works best for me with poison ivy and many bug bites, but for some bug bites lavender works better. However the tincture is by far the best overall.

Hoping my son does not lose his little business b/c both the lawn mower and weed wacker have died -ARGH!! Our lawn needs mowed too. Yep -That was a random unrelated comment.

Thanks. I also got back two nice partridge cockerels. Crests need some work, but they have the most vibrant coloring. Also have a blue with leakage, white, and a pair of buffs. Now that I have a trio of buffs, not sure if is should keep them or sell them. Lol. I personally do not like the buff coloring, but it seems pretty popular.
