So, my update...waiting on a referral for an MRI because my youngest has caused me a really painful shoulder injury. I've been toughing it out for two months and can't tough it out any longer. Haven't been able to sleep through the night due to the pain. *sigh* Of course that has interfered with work and life and building the run/improving the coop. DH has really taken over the coop, which is great. The kids are helping out with the birds. Couldn't do it without them.
The birds are in the garage for now. I set up a box fan for them and they love it. Ideally we will get them into the coop this weekend. We'll see how it goes. DH can get the new roof on in an afternoon, but I had planned to whitewash the inside and then put down vinyl. Sounds simple enough, but doing everything with one arm is anything but.
Behind on work, too! Stressing me out.
Trying to focus on the kids, though, and make sure they have good memories this summer. Managing my mood while feeling like my left arm is being torn off bit by bit is kind of a challenge.
So far my rooster count remains at 1. Otis (fka Oprah) crows, has a big red comb coming in, and loves to mount all comers, including the guinea hens. I do think both the guineas are hens. Watching their wattles. DH has taken to calling Otis a mean name, but as long as he doesn't actually start hurting anyone, he'll be allowed to live here. If he gets mean, he's going bye-bye. Good chance of that, I think.
Jury is still out on Lynda's sex, but she started sprouting white feathers this week. She is the blue Silkie, really almost black.
Finally found all the herbs I wanted for my raised beds around the run. Hope I can keep them alive until I get this thing built!
Hope you all have a good day/week/however long before I log in again.
