INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Weekends go by way too quick! Especially when I sleep from 4pm Saturday till 8am this morning! Lol. But still feel like I accomplished a lot! First I got up early and Curtis (cluck acres) and myself went up to the Wolfs Giant Swap (highly recommend it! Lots of different things from chickens, geese, peafowl, to goats, to reptiles, to exotics to tools, clothes, furniture, etc. Literally have just about everything!). Meet Zo (Peacefulwalls) there and gave her the orps I hatched for her. I successfully avoided all temptations there and came home with nothing!

I was able to sell 7 chicks today and gave away 7 cockerels! Sure a relief rehoming those guys! I also got a coop built for the young chicks in the grow out pen! Now just need to build about 4 more and I'll be all set!

I still have most of chickens I listed earlier I can take to chicken fest, but I'll be making an updated list since if also hatched out some new ones lol. It's never ending! But again atleast my cabinet is only about half filled! First time since I can remember!

Thank you all for the condolences about my hen, Pace. She had a long and hopefully happy life here. She was old, and I think it was just her time, so I'm at peace with her passing now.

Not sure what I will bring yet.. maybe a cold food/salad type thing or make a cold veggie tray?
I have a small fridge in our camper so I can keep it chilled till we eat.

The oldest blue cochin roo is a big man now, and has all 3 silkie hens in love with him!

I am finally done on geese this year, they have stopped laying. Took the few remaining eggs off the nests and were duds. They are still brooding over the pekin eggs If I dont collect a few times a day tho, ugh. I have a young chinese trio I am offering for sale in anyone is interested. I plan to scale down to trios on all but my brown chinese.

For my last group of chicks, I found a great in-between holding area from the brooder to outdoor grow-out pen.
w/measurements

The brooder is on the right, a plastic tub with hardware cloth on top for heat lamp if needed.
The 'playpen' I came across worked great because it was taller and bigger than the brooder, yet still enclosed both top and bottom.

PLUS--and this is a BIG plus--it folds flat to easily store.

We got ours at Tuesday Morning, a seconds and post-season chain store in Indianapolis for $19.99. It worked GREAT for 2-chicks, at that awkward age when they're too big to stay in the brooder, but too little (or it's too cold, or too wet) for them to go outside.

Great idea!!! That Brooder looks just like Mine! I thought for a minute it WAS mineLOL .

Is there anybody from northern Indiana (preferably within 1 hour of winamac) going to Chickenfest that would be willing to bring a hen back with you?
There's one I would really like to buy, but I can't go to Chickenfest because I have to work. If you are in my area and would be willing to bring her back with you, PLEASE message me. Even if you would be passing through the area and I could meet you somewhere. I would greatly appreciate any help!
