INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

And it would take a while for you to pass that $2,000 free threshold, so you wouldn't have any expense for quite a while.  I have heard really good things about the square reader and hadn't heard about the Lowes option.
reading the reviews I dont know whichbone to get. Seems like this payanywhere puts a hold on a lot of peoples funds. And the $2000 in free transactions seems to be only valid the first 30 days according to reviews but cant verify on their website.

FOUND IN INDIANAPOLIS: STRAY ROOSTER

On the Northwest side of Indianapolis, this rooster just randomly showed up at my buddy's in-law's house near 62nd and Lafayette Rd.

Does anybody recognize him, or want him for any reason?

Haha you mean my roost should not be covered in razor blades and rusty screws? Totally kidding of course. I have no idea what is going on. I am having a major thistle problem in my yard. I haven't wanted to spread weed killer with the chickens over there, and thistle is absolutely tenacious and hard to kill. I've swept the area with a magnet several times to pick up dropped screws and nails. I will do it again to be sure!
I found out what was causing bumblefoot in my flock.

I used to use one of the ramps with the cross-boards as a walk up to the chicken house. I began to notice that they would slide on it almost always and were getting damaged foot pads from the ramp!!!!!

So..
We had lots of old wood that needs to be burned (just light-weight, old junk logs not suitable for burning for heat). So I use them setting upright to make steps. They are wonderful. They stride right up and down them easily and no more sliding. And no more feet getting bruised or hurt.

You can see the logs here. Even the chicks can use them easily hopping from one to another.

There was talk awhile back about card readers you attach to cell phones/tablets to be able to accept credit cards for payment. We just got another side stack of PAYanywhere brand card readers. They are $10 but you also get a $10 credit on first time use. Plus your first $2000 in sales are free. Otherwise its 2.69% per swipe and like 3.69% + $0.19 per manually typed card transactions. Also mobey is supposedly available in your bank account next day.

Anyone use this brand? It seems you can get them free off their website but doesnt have the first $2000 transactions free deal that I can find. Im thinking of getting this or the paypal one. I already have a paypal accoubt and know they are safe and reliable. Their fees are comparable but you get a debit card with their reader. Im not too keen on having another card but I guess it would allow me access to the money immediatelyas well as 1% cash back on all signed purchases. If money is withdrawnm atm paypal charges $1.50.

Thoughts? Opinions? Recommendations? I honestly wouldnt use it that often but can see the benedits of having one especially if I start selling at swaps.

At a swap meet or another busy place the card would be the most convenient. PayPal could take significantly longer. It depends on where u want to use it. I would assume paypal would be more convenient for online buyers. I know I like it. But if I was inline at a swap meet or something like that I wouldn't want to stand in line while someone went thru their PayPal account. It depends I guess.

I have ramps that probably aren't even necessary. My coop is only 12" or so off the ground. I should remove them and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the idea!

So I figured out how to use my DH's screw gun and I almost finished my brooder box. I am going to have my husband make a hinged roof for easier opening and to make sure they are more secure, but at least now I can have my bathroom back, we have had chicks in the bathtub since March. I DO NOT like sharing my bathroom with my teenage sons. Had to get this done!

Inside pic of the other side. I made a little roost bar for the older chicks.

I have to say I can't believe I did this and all by myself. I really like it because it can be made into at least 4 compartments if need be. Like different chick ages and also if I ever get a broody, now she can go in here.

This is my grow out pen

Well finally back from the fair! I entered a chicken wrong an ended up bringing one back home. Oh well, life goes on. I did this project interact where you pretty much sit at a table with a chicken and people can pet them and ask you questions. You don't have the slightest idea how many little kids asked me if my splash Ameraucana was an owl lol
I see here that you have Ameraucana's. I was sold several chickens a few months ago that the person said they were Ameraucanas and I would really like your opinion. I thought a few looked just like easter eggers, but the rest look like a lot of the birds I have seen at the fairs recently with the Ameraucana tag. Here are a few pics let me know what you think. Thanks

My micro pig is giving birth right now and I'm stoked! She's got 6 out so far.
I have been saying that when we sell our house and get a small place in the country, that I want a goat and a small pig. I knew there had to be such a thing and when I saw your post I got right on researching micro pigs. Sad they were used for research, I just want to give one a good home someday!

Just took some photos of the SFH kiddos that are 13 weeks old now. SHF are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to end up with and they change from month to month until they reach their adult plumage.

Black w/band in front. She has more brown than the other black.

Here they are as little ones.

Black without band.

"Brown" (She still has snake eyes.)

Brown as a little one (kytinpusher's photo at hatch)

This is Emma. She's 1.5 yo. I think "brown" will end up looking much like Emma.
