INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I just went t bed totally exhausted at 1 am. Here it is 336 and I'm wide awake. What's with that???? I woke up with a feeling that something has happened somewhere, not a good something! I told Hoosier ,earlier before I went t bed, that I lost two friends yesterday, one because of medical issues and one in a car accident, and now I wake up feeling like something is wrong. I hope you all are ok and wake refreshed and healthy! If you are the praying type...say a prayer for our little community please. In th last 7 days there have bn 7 deaths, in a town of just under 800 people. Wishi could get over this feeling of dread! It won't go away!!! Sorry I know I sound depressing so I'll get off of here just didn't know where else t turn at this time in th morning. My family would flip out if I called all of them at this time in th morning just t ask if they were ok. (They might b but I would have all of them coming after me with whatever weapon was at their disposal). Going t take a pill n try t go back t sleep. Talk T ya all later.
Dont worry about sounding depressing

I was in the same state of mind as you a year ago last mth. Man I cant believe it's been that long. I lost an uncle, grandmother, Step farther and a Sister that I was supper close to, in less then 5 mths. I miss them so very much.
I would often wake with that same feeling of dread, when I could sleep at all. To this day I sometimes still wake to that Awful feeling, I call my grand kids and my daughter and talk till it goes away. If its in the middle of the night I call my son, he works nights so he is always up. I'm normally up at that time of night to let the dogs out.... they have this internal clock that wont let them sleep past 2 30 am without going outside... lol. But today DH got up with them. Hope you got some good sleep. and I am so sorry for your loss.

COLOR FREAK
When I was young, I guess from birth to maybe around 8 years old, I had a form of synesthesia where I always pictured words in different colors. I remember thinking of it as the color relating to the meaning of the word. I was an adult when I happened to be watching a science program on TV and that topic came up. I was shocked! I had thought that it was just something weird about me (to add to the long list). I remember that as a child, when I mentioned it to a friend by saying something like, "Oh that's blue" or "That's a green word," I'd get funny looks or "What?!" I began realizing that it wasn't normal, so I quit saying anything since kids just want to fit in and be normal. I learned to ignore it and hadn't thought about it in years when I saw that TV program. By that time, I had earned a Fine Art degree from IU, had additional training in color theory and design, and had a business with a partner named Color Design Studio. I love color! Shapes, too. Anyway, it was interesting to piece the puzzle together.

Okay, everyone can wake up now!

ICE! Get in a comfortable sitting position. Put an ice pack on your lower back for ten minutes. Repeat once an hour. IMO, whenever I've had a backache, shoulder ache, etc., ice really works. A few months ago, I had shoulder pain from digging in the yard too much. At nighttime, I used a generic Icy Hot stick-on patch (5% menthol), which worked wonders. Actually, I think that it took my mind away from thinking about the pain to thinking about how weird the icy hot patch feels!
Hope you're on the mend soon!!
[rule]And finally, a topic relating to chickens!
Bonbon has been sitting on an empty nest all day, and after dark, I put her in the big coop. I'm not sure if she is counting these days as part of her 19 days of sitting on eggs. I haven't seen a calendar posted in the little coop. I guess that's a good sign. But, I'm wondering about if I get some hatching eggs, will she sit on them long enough? I really just want a few bantam eggs since I have a full house (chicken math), and I'd like them to be a breed I might want to keep (chicken hoarder).

Thanks for your offer, but I am being picky, especially if I have to travel to buy eggs.

Are your frizzle Cochin eggs bantam?

Yes they are bantam. I have a black smooth feathered girl paired with a black frizzled boy. I also have a Egyptian fayoumi ..she is a bantam also but her eggs aren't so small. Shocked me but it is what it is. I've gathered 3 Cochin eggs and 2 Fayoumi eggs just in case for you. I will get more today more than likely. Just let me know and I will bring them to work with me tomorrow.

This is my frizzled boy. He's a doll!

The mom of my current girl but identical to her mother. Unfortunately I lost her to a predator.

My Egyptian fayoumi. Lol of course in the background. Not a great pic of her but you can see how small she is.

I show LF Wheaten Ameraucanas and to a lesser extent, LF Black Orpingtons. I have decided to put all of my efforts towards my Ameraucanas and no longer raise the Orpingtons. If interested I will make you a great deal on a 2 year old cock, 1 pullet, 2 hens (one of which is broody), and also a Blue (broody) hen. One of the hens won BV as a pullet at the Connersville show in 2012. PM me if interested. These would make good foundation stock for a breeding program.

I have a broody... A BJG didn't even know that they were a broody breed. But I have been watching her for 4 days now and she is sitting like 8 eggs, I checked last night. I don't care if she tries, but I wormed them with Wazine 9 days ago. will they hatch? and if the do will they be........ healthy?
The hen is still young herself, another reason I am surprised.
What do ya'll think?????????????????????????

O..and I don't have a Fayoumi roo so I'm not sure what you'd get as a result of her eggs if you chose to hatch. I've seen my Blue Copper Marans try her but she's so small she just slips out. I would love to see her blue though so that would be interesting.

I've never used wazine so I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that but I'm not sure that it could cause issues. Doesn't seem that it would. I again have 4 broody girls! Same ones as before. I finally got them broke and they began laying again. ..Now. ..broody again! Sigh...
My sister wants a frizzle so I'm debating on using one of the broodys to hatch some. I just know it's 50/50 chance of getting a frizzle and to add to that she wants a girl! So...I'm hesitant as I will end up with yet another brooder of babes that I swore I was done for the year! !! Hmmm... maybe I'll make her raise all of them that hatch and hopefully she'll get her girl and already have a bond. ..then I'll take whatever is left. ..

pginsber~ Haha She does look like she could be related! Is she the "packing peanut" that you received in the mail that time? @kittydoc has orps, and a broody could be a hatching machine.

Yes, Peanut's given name is Adele--we've named all our hens after singing stars. She'll always be Peanut to me, though.

We will be there after 5 tomorrow. I'll have my shirt too.
We're going to the fair tonight, too--after 5:30. I'm wearing my shirt, too. If you see a BYC shirt walking around, stop me and say hello. I plan to stop everybody I see in a BYC shirt!

I'm not trying to act like a know-it-all (I do know more about graphic design than I do chickens!), but it's just like anyone else on this thread who has a particular profession. A carpenter might have tips on building, and a person who shows chickens might have tips on grooming. I'm just trying to avoid everyone ending up with headaches and seizures! haha

I appreciate when folks share their experience and expertise willingly. Thanks to all of you who do.

I've had weird dreams with uneasy connotations for the last 2 nights, too. If it's a feeling that's strong enough to wake you up, you probably need to talk it through. Hope all turns out well for you, and maybe you just had something weird before bed.

Interesting dilemma. I have a guess, but it's purely a guess, so I'll keep it to myself. I'm interested to see what happens in 21 days, for sure!
