INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

did you just write this???? i want to continue to read. you had my full attention

Ya, that was right off the cuff. Not bad for a first draft, I'll admit it. You should go back and read about my chickens, when they were still new.

My thoughts exactly. He should write books. Seriously.

So I've been told. I suffer from chronic debilitating self-doubt. That, and I don't have any idea what I'd write a book about. I don't feel that I have anything to say that hasn't been said by someone else, and said in a better way.

The stuff you should write about is the stuff that just comes pouring out... like that story you just wrote. We're all waiting to hear the rest

Ok, so I'm working on getting a new job and it looks pretty promising (still not holding my breath though lol). If I get the job, I will be working more hours, so this means I must downsize. I will likely be selling my Birchen Marans (1 roo over 6 hens I believe), crested cream legbars (1Roo but will likely be culled due to his temperament, 1 cockerel who is turning out nice and 2 hens/2 pullets), and likely my current trio of tolbunts (roo is mean and will likely be culled unless someone wants him and 2 hens). My tolbunts are definitely a color project especially the hens. If anyone is interested let me know.

I just want some tolbunt chicks. Do you have any? I hope u get the job:)

Tonight I got an email from a writer for the Indianapolis Star, interested in local opinions about why the max # of backyard chickens should be raised from 3 to 6.

If you'd like to comment on that, I can put you in touch with him.

I also asked him if he came to the board and asked around. I know we have a lot of Indy-area members. Sounds like a great opportunity for y'all to speak up about why a flock of 3 is unreasonably small.

I hope he'll post to the board here and y'all can contact him directly, but if that doesn't happen and you want his deets, PM me.

In other news...no news from me. Maybe this kinda counts...My daughter chased our rooster through our woods barefoot, caught him, and handed him to me so I could put him back into the fenced yard. Yes, my 3 y.o. daughter is a wild woodswoman already and a pro chicken wrangler. My rooster is just an idiot. A pretty idiot, but still an idiot.

Anyway, catch ya soon. Might have a new guinea pic eventually if I can get Louie to stand still long enough. That's really all. Busy doing the back to school stuff still and PT for my shoulder.

No chicks right now. The one hen is molting and the other isn't laying. I have some eggs coming tomorrow and hopefully chicks soon as well, waiting on seller to get back with me. So I'm not getting out of tolbunts all together. I will be getting rid of the roo for sure and if I do that, the hens are just not good enough color for me to keep over winter. So I'm going to be starting fresh with the breed.

The main reason I'm getting rid of my tolbunt roo

The bruise is about a week old now. Looks better than it did, but if don't put in with aggressive animals.
