INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Strange feeling today. I'm sitting in my house with the urge and feeling that I needed to do something outside. The wierd thing is I don't have anything to do??? Yes there will always be little things that should (but can wait) be done, but no major projects to do! No coops to build no pasture fence to be put up. Yesterday I finished my last big project and that was a hog pen for our Duroc boar. Now I'm at a loss. It has been such a busy spring and summer that it doesn't seem right to just be sitting down watching tv! I need to find something to do, I've already drank the usual amount if coffee![/quote
Get that horse paddock ready for us, we've got horse training to do! Lol

This is excellent! Could you please advise what materials you used/bought? This is so cool you figured out how to make one on your own as they are so expensive. Any info you can share would be so helpful, these pics are really great!

Fluffy Imported English Orpingtons! A short minute-long video. After 15 seconds, the fluffy feathers are seen in slow motion and end with my Blue Splash creating a dust cloud. (This was taken right before my Chocolate Bonbon went broody. The dirt is where I've been working on removing a stump).
My Movie 2
Love the slow motion!

Oh my goodness. This is just crazy big!

Ok kiddies! German lesson today is "dumkompf und schweinhund"

Dumkompf = dumbhead

und = and

schweinhund = pigdog

My grandma was born and raised in Germany
Love this, always cool to learn bits and pieces of other languages.

Her Bantam Ameraucana got. BV, BB, Then Res. Champion AOCCL
her Bantam white rock got 2nd.
Thank-you very much for that link! I filled it out right away and sent it!

I am so hoping that this isn't MG/CRD (they are the same thing the same way HIV/AIDS are. One is the agent, the other is the resulting syndrome caused by the agent).

There are so many things about this case that I find horrifying. The man who traded this hen knew she was dying and still thought she was a fitting trade for three drakes (I had one female duck at the time, and they were raping her into the ground so I had to find them new homes or I wouldn't have even thought about this trade). He brought his prepubescent son with him, and I can't even fathom what makes a parent think that this would be okay. He is teaching his son to cheat people, to take advantage of hapless newbies in the trade, and he is making his son party to these practices and thereby endorsing them. After all the care I gave these animals--my birds are pets! I brought them into my house to treat them and care for them when they were injured. They were all tame and healthy, and the whole reason I was talked into them was because they could provide some necessary therapy for my children. But the hen he gave me died right in front of my children, right after the loss of their favorite hen who was mauled by an unknown animal only days before.
I am so sorry to hear this. There are some bad people out there unfortunately.

A day at Harmony Lane farm. :)

Just look at him posing for you-what a sweetheart!

AAAAAHHHHHHH! My cemani eggs are growing! I really hope these guys make it! I'm pretty sure all 6 eggs developed but one maybe an early quitter.

Thought I'd share this thread here, as there are a couple really good posts about wintertime heating (and why it is unnecessary and possibly even detrimental). Post 6 has a particularly good analogy about dry vs. humid air. ;)

I'm seeing more and more leaves on the ground... *sigh* This summer passed too quickly for my liking.

Does anyone know what these two could be mixed with they both lay a dark brown egg, much darker then my RSL's eggs. I guess I had to much time on my hands and looked up what color eggs BR's lay and their eggs are not even close to that color. They are hatchery quality from TSC.

I am ready to see leaves fall on the ground here. It is so hot and humid. I am still in keep chickens cool mode. I know once it is cold I will wish it were hot again.....lol. I am never happy with the weather. Fall is my favorite season but it seems so short.
