So sorry! I guess I should have read the ad lol. And yup still have silkies. Basically downsized to white, BBS, and partridge. Thanks Brad...unfortunately that ad was a flock dispersal. I did find someone with eggs though, in Florida. Seems not many breed or stick with the d'uccle. Easy to find hatchery but not heritage or improved flocks.
ETA: Still breeding silkies Brad??
Thanks for that! I have heard of others using the cabbage but in the summer my birds didn't show any interest in cabbage so I never tried it. Of course, my birds eat some greens in the winter that they don't pay attention to in the summer so maybe I'll see what they think of a cabbage. What did you use to hook into the cabbage?Tried Cabbage on a string and it was a hit!

Currently I'm stuffing the large sized suet-block feeders (not the little ones but the large block size) with kale, cilantro, and/or various sprouts (oat, sunflower, barley, clover or whatever I have around here to sprout. I have a source for organic kale - a very large bunch - for just $150.
Yea I had to downsize too...sticking with white, gray, and buff. Whites are my pride and joy and are soooo hard to keep pristine. Do you have a website? So sorry! I guess I should have read the ad lol. And yup still have silkies. Basically downsized to white, BBS, and partridge.
I purchase from an old fashioned feed mill that's not too far from me. I'm able to get organic seed by the 50 lb bag.We used a bamboo skewer and poked a hole through the top of a halved cabbage. Then used the same skewer to push kite string through the hole. Voila! Smart idea with the suet cage, we'll have to try that. Where do you get your bulk seed to sprout?
