INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My TSC costs .49 per carton. I think that is too much. If you sell eggs you have to pass that on. eggs selling here for 2 dollars a doz. That is bound to be costing instead of profit ?

Are your polish bantams or large fowl? I keep my bantams cooped inside in the winter. The LF are outside with shelter, but I don't put them with other breeds as they are easily picked on. ...they are a lighter breed and don't have good peripheral vision because of the crest and so don't see attackers coming. Yours are too young to have much crest yet but as it grows it will need to be either trimmed or taped because they will manage to get it in the water and it freezes.
The polish are fantastic birds but do require extra maintenance.

I like the ones I got from here.

Also I now include a small slip of paper in my cartons with the week the egg was laid, and a request to return cartons.

editing to add if you were closer, I have some styro foam ones you could have. I like uniformity and people tend to give me back random egg cartons sometimes.

When you sell your eggs charge for the carton and deduct it if they bring a carton to replace the one they are buying,

Good idea.
If you don't mind an assortment, simply ask a classroom or a couple neighbors to save them for you.

I've never had enough to sell eggs by the dozen, but I do sell some extras for 0.25 per egg. Since I teach some students in my home, I offer the extras on Fridays & always sell out. The families bring their own cartons as well as donate their empties.

Egg-citing news:
I have another new layer!!!
wee.gif

I found 2 pullet eggs today on top of the 1 yesterday. So my mystery layer is at least 2 & possibly all three suspects.

More Great News:
The days will now grow longer! I'm already looking forward to spring.
