INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Our last dinner and get together is Sunday. New Year party next week, and its back to normal around here after that. Its great to see family and enjoy the holidays. Just getting really excited over the barn clean up! We set up our pallet racks the last few days. Looks really good, will be posting pics soon!
DH has sworn to me his first project is breeding coops. Getting excited! We are getting all the woodworking tools out, making supply lists. Forgot how nice the floor is in there, going to make it a lot easier to build them indoors on flat concrete. Decided to go with tractor style breeding coops.

I'm getting way more eggs than I can sell. I'm now feeding some eggs to the dogs. I have 30 young Isa Browns, hatched in May. Of my 30 hens, I'm getting 28 to 30 eggs per day. I'd like to sell 10 or 15 if anyone is interested. I need $8 each, as that is what I paid for them. I'm located east of Ft. Wayne, near the Ohio line. Call my cell- 260-740-8911. Leave a message if necessary and I'll call you right back.

It's an egg-citing time over here today!
After a molt & break, Princess Lay-a made her 1st egg this morning. Darth Layer just stared making pullet eggs last week, & Cookie (our only bantam & nick-named our "Bantam Menace") came back to laying on Christmas. All three laid an egg this morning! After two months of getting less than 1/2 dozen eggs per week, we get 3 eggs in one day! The egg force is strong today!

Ok I'm a heathen today! Decided to stay home and sleep instead of going t Church.
Decided this last night so never set my alarm.
Can't believe I didn't wake up til 1030!!! Didn't realize I was THAT exhausted. When I went out to do chicken chores (which are normally done by 7a) I got all kinds of responses from being cussed at from the ducks, yelled at by all 7 roosters, ignored by the Silkies, and the big girls acted like they were starving!!! In a way I'm glad I did oversleep because if if have bn up the babies would have been out of the runs when my neighbors pit bulls broke their chains this morning. They are very mean aggressive to other animals and half my flock would have bn lost. As it is they tried t get into the pens and I have a few repairs to make today. Anyone want to come help? Lol

Anyone able help me out? Two of my three summer Silkie chicks have begun crowing their fluffy heads off- which is a problem as I am not zoned for chickens. I would just collar them but I feel like the 2:1 ratio isn't working well for my hen and I also would like some layers. Anyone interested? PLEASE?? One buff cockerel and one red, about 7 months old now. I will make work of posting photos.

I'm way to far away! Try Craig's list or EBay. That's IF you don't have luck getting "rid" of them to someone here.

These have amazing looks. It's hard for me to believe a chicken can look like this without a lot of grooming. I've never seen any silkies in person.
Congrats on the pretty chickens.

They usually have a turd or two stuck to them. They just look clean. ;) Thanks for the nice words. The blue cream is from my birds, the black is from eggs I got out of Michigan and the Paints are from Missouri. I am getting my breeding business back up and running this spring. Mostly shipping hatching eggs.
SOO, I take it hard wing feathers are undesirable ? they are beautiful and just took mine to crap. LOL
No hard wing feathers are okay. The standard however says they should be shredded. Like this.
