INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well i have a job interview tomorrow! Its at a chicken egg plant. We have all kinds of chicken plants around where i live. They only do eggs at this plant so that makes me feel alot better about it. If it was a plant that butchers them i dont think i could work there.
Good luck! Obviously you will find out more tomorrow, but will you be allowed to own chickens if you work there? I know most chicken farms have very strict bio security regulations. I had to volunteer at Purdue University's chicken farm (as well as all their other farms). It was very interesting. I had to do things to chickens I never would have thought I'd ever do! Lol. A.I. Is not my cup of tea lol.

Are they being taken only at night ? Or misc times? Can you put something down that'll it'll make tracks in? Then at least you'll know what it is?

Only during the day. They go in right before dark and get locked up. I figured snow would make good tracks but never see anything other than chicken and duck foot prints.

So I have a silkie chick that appears to be very weak. It was moving very little, barely able to keep eyes open. When I found it, I have been syringing/dropping electrolyte water to see if it will give it a boost. I have seen it several times laying in its back and not even bothering to try and right itself. Since I have been syringing water into him, he has gain some strength, able to stand on its own, cheering when taken from the others, etc. but still very weak. I tried taking some feed and mixing it with water and putting a dab up to his beak with my finger. He has no interest in eating.

Any suggestions? I'm continuing to hydrate him every hour. I'm able to give him less than1cc before he starts shaking his head and stops drinking. And he did poop on me which appeared to be normal.

Brad, try adding a little sugar also, the calories may boost him too. I am doctoring my first splayed chick, and it is doing much better since I added sugar to the electrolyte water.

Crafty- he had some sort of straps on them but he would move them all the time so it wasn't strapped too much. But they knew they were trespassing and knew how to get the chip! It used to take me hours to get the chips out of our cameras!!

Cluck- do you have live traps? That is strange that you don't see anything!! Good luck on the job!!;)

When i put in my application i told the HR guy that I own chickens already. He didnt seem like that would be a problem.
