My boy is a displaying fool!! Lol! I just hope my hen appreciates him as much as I do! I'm really hoping she hatches a clutch this year!
Went out to the coop and had 4 girls in next boxes! The wait for spring is killing me! I've honestly been considering adding light to get them started. Pulling all the Roos out and not putting them back together until breeding pens are built! I was surprised to see my spring hatch Blue Copper Marans girl has layed her second egg. I was wondering who layed the first one. Caught her today. Small pullet egg but love the speckles. It's the 2 eggs on the far left. Nice dark color. Pics are a little lighter than true color.
This is the young girl. Far left.

Aww thats great news! I put my lil guy and his guinea buddy in cage, they are just not thriving well with the bigger birds.
Wow!! great looking roo, congrats on the frizzles!
I have a broody hen. All was going well with her and her chicks until about 3 days back. That is when I noticed a bit of pasty rear on 3 of her 11 chicks. These chicks are 2.5 weeks old. Pasty rear should not be an issue. But now 3 days later their rears are bare skinned and covered in white goo. It is not hardened as it would be in a day old pasty rear.
Should I take the chicks and clean them. If I clean them do I give the chicks back to the broody? Do I just take over raising these 11 chicks and toss the broody back into her original pen with her prior hen buddies?
