INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So sharing a silly video my 15 yr old made! Cracks me up every time I watch it! Goofy kids and the things technology allows now! How fun. It wouldn't let me watch it on my phone? Just my PC. So not sure it will work for mobile viewers or not?? First time ever posting something on YouTube! Lol

Correction. Once it was loaded and I selected it from my post it worked on my phone.

My babes displaying! I've seen them a few times across the yard etc. this is the first time I had my camera and they were close. So funny! They are from June hatch. Every time they do this it's a chain reaction. One displays then a min later the other starts.

glad you found the thread a lot of people have commented on the recent close up pic that you posted...all the people commenting have a bunch of peafowl...zaz especially has so many and she free ranges them...that bird kinda looks like the female mother my female came from very similar....well ill see you here or in the peafowl forum....

some random pics...the chicks are from this January hatch....getting ready to set 70 chicken eggs....or boy cant wait
Wow thanks for the info and the referral! So glad there is an active peafowl thread. This group photo is gorgeous! What different kinds are in the photo? So jealous you are firing up the 'bator already! Can't wait to get something going here soon. The feed stores have chicks in and I also want to take a trip to Dinky's soon.

not sure the different kinds...iv only been into birds for about 8 months now...so I have expanded heavily...building pens like crazy and getting birds like crazy...got over 50 plus different kinds of pheasants...if you look below there is two websites in blue one is an active thread you can watch updates and such for building your own incubators/pens/and all the birds I have been getting....the other is an article I wrote for byc and its in their learning center as they just have opened it up for different breeds other then chickens as of today....so check it out...very helpful...as for the peafowl forum it is very helpful with great people on there with tons of pics...got 20 peafowl so far...and up to 55 plus chickens now...so I cant wait to see how this season will go...going for double or possibly triple....we will see...have plenty of land just got to fill it....

Mom and I will order ours soon, hope that' okay! Probably today, but I'm not sure, so soon.
Had a "gasp" moment this afternoon. Imagine the horror I felt when I saw one of my embden hens with this stuck on her bill! I always share "bad stuff" and this was upsetting for us. Someone was kind enough to toss this out in the yard by the barn somewhere. Well, she found it! She has a cut on either side of her bottom bill from this can. Cuts on either side of her tongue too.:rant Makes you realize how many wild ducks and geese probably die from negligence like this every year! She was very frightened, but we got it off, checked her over and let her go. Not much I can do to treat her since they dunk so frequently. Medicine will wash right off. Will be watching her close the next week.
Poor thing! Some people! I'm not sure, since it's in her beak, if there's anything you can do beyond just keeping an eye on it anyway. Hope she heals well! :fl
I just looked them up... I would say those are my girls... :love I have a new fav I think they are supper sweet. Thanks. and it says they lay brown eggs too.
I love my Plymouth Rocks, too. Such attention hogs! I have partridge and barred girls, but I think their personalities are great no matter the variety. They're a close second favorite to Dorkings for me. :D
black laced wyandottes.... nice lol. We got some BJG last year from RK and 2 of them turned out to be BA's but that was ok, I like BA's they are nice and good layers so we wernt too disappointed. Before last year I didn't know an Op from an EE, So last year when ever I would go into a farm store and see the mis-lables I would just shake my head and laugh to myslef... :idunno oh well. And I especially like it when a young-in would try to tell me the EE's wernt EE's at all but aruacanas ( I think I spelled that wrong but u get it I'm sure ) would crack me up.
Yeah, people are crazy when it comes to correcting breeds. I've reached the point where I want to correct things like the RK signs, but I'm not sure I'm up to the effort of convincing people I do actually know what I'm talking about. Easter-eggers are an especially touchy subject, too. I was reading a conversation on FB the other day where someone asked if their Easter-egger might be a pure blue wheaten Ameraucana, and when they were told that no, he is an Easter-egger, the owner started ripping on the pictures of true BW Ams that people were posting and saying they looked like mutts as well. It was like, what did you expect when you asked? Really...

:love How adorable! So out of curiosity, does that mean they are both male, or do the young females do this, too?

Thanks! Yes young females and older will display also. I'm pretty sure they are both males though. One is more obvious than the other by the loosely barbed feathers near the tail. Some days I swear I see it on both then other days I don't! ?? They say a year before you're able to sex the white. So I guess I'm holding out hope I at least have a pair! I don't need 3:1 ratio for sure!

Just so everyone knows - This ends March 6. If you want a T shirt, it must be ordered by then. After this fund raiser closes, we will put up another for a different item.

Yes for ordering the T-shirts, please place orders by March 6th.

I have been asked about the location a few times on FB. Chickenfest will be up north in or near Goshen. @PeacefulWalls has generously offered to host the get together.
As for when Chicken fest will be held, it is looking like early during the summer school break. Last year it was in August and the heat was a bit much for a few people. Although I really enjoyed the shady location and park. Going north and planning it a bit earlier will help avoid some of the heat.

I'll be on a little bit this weekend but not a lot. It might be late next week before I get back on. When I do have the time, I'll post a couple of sample pictures of items for people to debate on which one should be offered next. As of now it is looking like a dark colored hoodie and a forest green long sleeve shirt are the top two picks for the next item.

Also if there is a designer out there, please feel free to offer up 1 color designs for items.
For the 2014 Chickenfest shirt, there were a few designs offered up. It would be fun to do that again.
