Good morning! My day is starting off lovely, outside underground pump house valve is frozen, which means no water this morning. Had to wake up poor hubby to go out and fix it! Such a good husband!

Other than that it is 1 degree outside, better than in the negative I suppose.

Update on craigslist silkie chickens, Wookie & Snooki. Snookies foot is healing. She is a sweet, sweet girl. She laid an egg yesterday, which I think is great, since she is in a new place and the foot thing etc. Wookie got another bath yesterday, I need to dust him today too. I did notice that his foot feathers looked terrible. When I was washing his feet some of his feathers game out...I dont even know how to explain it but they were like multiple feathers in one making the base of it huge. I am thinking it is because he may have had troubles preening with his beak. I also noticed on the back of one of his feet, there is a extremely hard bump.


You can see in the photo he does not have it on the other side. Any ideas on what would cause this? Or what it is? (you may notice his other foot nail is bloody...I felt so bad, he move when I was clipping his nails and I snipped too much)

lol...i wish it was like this every month thats for sure...but u gotta love a menards card...cause they love me...

morning everyone...froze inside the house....53 downstair when i woke up ...bathroom area pipes froze...working hard to get it to normal temps...ahhhh...with all this good there has to be something bad that happens along with it...

on another note..i did get in contact with the lamona breeder...and should get some this year...he is reserving my some birds....so if anyone wants some just pm me and we can go from there...not sure on prices yet...cause he has yet to discuss them with me

We've lucked out the past 3 winters here. Heat tape for piping under the house and we heat the inside with a pellet stove. That's the closest to a wood stove our old insurance would allow. New insurance wants baseboard heaters as MAIN heat source then they will approve wood stove...so on the hunt for baseboard heaters on sale!

@Acornewell If that bump is on the foot pad (bottom), it's probably bumblefoot. Is the bird lame or tender on it?

Its not on the bottom of his foot, its on his leg? under his spur and ...well I guess it could be considered bottom? Because he has 5 toes?
