INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My babies did well thru the night, I got up at 2am to check them, all sleeping and quiet, this morning at 6am they were up and eating and drinking...My husband reached in and petted a RIR he named Roada, it just stood there and let him pet and pet, like it was saying "Love you dad" boy, I'm already attaached to these little chickies. Thanks for all your help, because of this website I was fully prepared to bring these little sweethearts home, I've learned so much here, and I know there is much more to learn too.....
They are adorable, DH keeps asking if I am going to be able to sell any

so I incubated eggs for a neighbor because he wanted chicks so bad but didn't want to pay a big price for them. I told him 10 bucks for what ever I hatch out of 33 eggs. got 19 that hatched. called him and he said ok. then I didn't hear from him so I said hey you coming to get you chicks? and he said well I thought about it and I really don't want any now. ok no big deal. got rid of them to some one else. two days later he says he wants the chicks and is mad that I have already gotten rid of them. but then it gets better. the lady I sold them to brought them back to me two days ago. I don't know if she didn't follow directions or not but she only brought 13 chicks and told me to keep the 10 dollars. so I figure I will just keep these chicks. didn't even tell the neighbor that I have them back and I bought 15 from rural king to go with them. 10 black sex links that I picked the pullets out of the straight run, and five California white's since they were only .99 a piece! just thought I would ramble
Ugh... but can't beat the free chicks in the end. good deal at RK!

Cluck- does the brave roo have a name? Love the pic with the medal!!!

crafty- happy birthday to you.......

chicks arrived, replacement of the orderd chicks gone bad!! So cute and chirping!

Very happy you've joined us!

Well, I'm looking into everything that goes into keeping quail, but I haven't gotten any yet. I'll keep you all posted. It's slow going and my husband doesn't know my plans!!! He loves the little fuzz balls, so I'm sure once he sees them hatch he won't complain. ;)

haha, quailmath that can easily get worse than chickenmath!!

They are all silkies, just rainbow colors. My colors don't have their own pens yet. It was just a trail hatch to see if my boys were doing their jobs and what I would get. I even got a showgirl, didn't know my boy was breeding yet.

Thats great news!

wow finally got caught up! Busy week, had a good hatch , 26 chicks ! If anyone is looking for Gold Laced Wyandotte, I have several. Will also have crossed BR/GLW (big chicks, very robust) and EE/GLW cross. Adorable little faces, and lovely cinnamon and gold colors. Parent birds are my avatar picture-Red the rooster, and my original flock girls, 3 GLW, an EE and a BR. Also expect to have Australorp available by late spring after the pullet eggs get to normal size

Hello and welcome to this very active Indiana thread! 36 new birds, eh? Have you kept chickens before?

Some pictures of the coop build. Details, man details are taking time, but we want to get it mostly right the first time.

Well ok one picture. The side you can see has the window almost ready,
The big opening will be a door, we have a window and 2 small doors
on the other side. Working on a slide out for under the roost, need to
make the roost bars and a small amount of wiring inside for next winter.

Anybody want to come over tomorrow to help lol? Supposed to be a
nice day, so we plan on 8 hours or more of coop building. Amazing how
fast the little chicks are growing. They need more space again!
