Why all of a sudden are they around? Is this the migration period? I really don't remember seeing any the last 3 years that we've lived in this house.

Seems like they have to be migrating. I just noticed this video that shows exactly what I have been seeing (and probably Cluck Acres, too). You can see on this video why I thought they had horizontal bands on their wings.By the way, thanks for the Turkey tip, VickiChicki!

Sorry to hear craftyWell, Ilooked outside and saw one of my hens laid out on the lawn. I checked her throat, nothing but a bit grass. I think she had an egg stuck. She was still warm when I found her. I guess I'm cleaning a chicken now...![]()
Mealworms, yogurt, and sometimes chopped eggs, leftover stuff if the pigs won't like itWhat does everyone use as chicken treats?????
I'm just outside of New Pal, near the Links golf coarse. I have quite a few birds... barred rocks, RIR's, Light Brahma's and about to get a fresh batch of Cornish X's for meat. Also about to start raising a few hogs.
Welcome to our thread, glad you found us! I raise hereford pigs, and will be processing our first one (yorkshire, I got him last fall) the first weekend of April! Bacon is 271 pounds as of today, so its time
I also have a young boar and 2 gilts. They are a lot of fun, act like a very big dog. Bacon squeals and grunts the second I come out the door, Good thing he is penned or I know i would get bowled over
I am dreading seeing him go, Have enjoyed raising him very much.![]()
The CX are funny birds, I free ranged mine and it was hilarious when I came out in the morning to let them out.
I have 6 and am adding 10 more. Live in Gods Country of Mooresville
Congrats on the eating.
New chicks, I always dip their beaks when I get them home so they know where the water is. I have never had a problem once they take water.
AwwOk I have a sappy story for everyone. I have one 10 day old and two 6 week old girls. I was worried the big ones were picking on the baby. Well today I turned off the heat lamp for a little bit bc it was too hot. When I came back the meanest of the three was laying on her belly wings spread and looking fat. I thought for sure she had eaten the baby. Turns out I left the heat lamp off for too long and baby was cold so the mean one used her mommy skills to cover baby to keep it warm. The one I thought was mean is actually just protecting her little sister. She has established herself as head of coop! Pretty cool stuff.
Adorable! Look super healthy!
