X2 agree 100%
He's gorgeous! Those are Ayam Cemani on the roof. The boy in front is out of the Smithsonian line which had some Leghorn cross - thus his white lobes. Makes him perfect for my fibro phoenix project.![]()
Molly Brown is supposed to be a genetic hackle - but now that I know more about them, I am not so sure she is. I have a couple of fly tie boys and know what their feathers are supposed to look like. Even so, she is a sweet hen.![]()
I have a trio of f1 fibro phoenix that I am willing to part with if anyone in the group is interested.
My absolute favorites, though, are my Ohiki. Here is my pride and joy - Charlemagne. He is amazing!

Guess who I seen at auction today lol Your dh and your chickens I was tempted but last night a guy down the street showed up with thisWow I wish I could sleep like normal people, here it is 5:30 am been up since 4:40 am and I'm bored... So I thought I would just give some updates: Harriet is feeling better but not to par just yet, its going to warm up a bit next week so I am hoping she can go out again. She has been in so long I'm worried about putting her back out with the others, she is so timid around them. My cold silkie chick spends more time with me getting warm then she does with her own kind, I think she may forget she is a chicken... lol and I think she is going to be another plash like her momma, that gives me 2 of her chicks to be splash. I am hoping the stronger one is a pullet, I dont want to breed this one, to weak and I don't want that passed on. This one will be in the Bantam pen. Wow I am now talking about building a Bantam pen, got to do something... I keep getting these trade chickens that are Bantams and then I fall in love with them and wont get rid of them. I don't even know for sure what all of them are, Gee I make it sound like I have a dz, I don't. And after today I will be down 5. They didnt sell so they are going to auction. I need the space and they aren't the best quality, I'm trying to get better breeders. So got 2 silkie boys going and the Bantam EE and the Bantam ???? that DH brought home last weekend. I am keeping Lacy the Bantam Cochin at lest I'm pretty sure thats what she is, she giges the cutest little white egg. It's smaller then the Silkie eggs.
and I am going to keep the Black Tailed White Japanese, he is such a little sweetheart, and I just love his coloring and the way his tail stands and o I could go on and on, ya think I found me a new favorite breed?? lol
Actuality thinking about getting some quality hens and breeding them, not allot around that I have seen, but I don't know if anyone would want them. I guess If not I would have some very pretty yard ornaments. And he don't crow, but I think that is because the mean butt Rooster he came with. ( that goes by by today ) The white Silkie hen is still trying to sit eggs, She is so broody that she is now sitting an empty nest... lol I separated the Silkie Roo's that I don't want so that left Romeo with all those hens for the winter... he is in heaven...
Its so cold at night that I built a little temp coop in the ISO unit and put up a wind block, they seen to like it. I love dog kennels, all you need is a little imagination and it can be a castle to a chicken... lol ( pics to follow ) I am always on the look out for cheep used dog kennels.

Sorry about the chairs, its still warm enough to sit outside during the day so I haven't put them in storage yet and it is raining so I put them in there to keep them form getting wet. The back side without the tarp is the south side so not allot of cold air comes from there. That stupid flighty EE hen that I grip about all the time got so high in a tree to roost last night that we couldn't get her down so she is out in this cold rain with a bear back from molting. I'm tired of messing with her, she is going to the auction today with the others. I think she might be the one throwing the Scissor beaked black chicks anyway so I don't want to hatch any more of her eggs. Ok I think I'm about ready to go back to sleep for an hour.... so night, have a great day all. Rain is supposed to clear off mid-morning.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.ugly mutant screaming turkeys.

Not to put you off of them, but they are likely not common because the birds that meet the standard carry a lethal gene for short legs. My understanding is it is partially dominant; short leg bred to short leg produces 25% normal legged offspring, 50% short legs, and 25% that die before hatch. It's the same reason true Araucanas are so rare, they're just difficult to breed. That doesn't mean you shouldn't, just thought you should know before you commit to them.and I am going to keep the Black Tailed White Japanese, he is such a little sweetheart, and I just love his coloring and the way his tail stands and o I could go on and on, ya think I found me a new favorite breed?? lolActuality thinking about getting some quality hens and breeding them, not allot around that I have seen, but I don't know if anyone would want them.
