INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Guess who I seen at auction today lol
Your dh and your chickens I was tempted but last night a guy down the street showed up with this
A golden comet I've named him comet lol but your lol jap banties went to a little girls family so I think they will be pets not sure who bought the other three
DH told me he seen you, I was with my granny helping her pay bills and such. Sh is 90 and don't drive so well anymore so I drive her all over the place a couple times a mth. Besides I don't go when its not pretty out, just not allot there.
I figured they would be pets for someone, not much else you could do with them, too little to eat really.

Been awfully quiet here today! Was there some event I missed?
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

Lovely! And Charlemagne is such a handsome fella!
Not to put you off of them, but they are likely not common because the birds that meet the standard carry a lethal gene for short legs. My understanding is it is partially dominant; short leg bred to short leg produces 25% normal legged offspring, 50% short legs, and 25% that die before hatch. It's the same reason true Araucanas are so rare, they're just difficult to breed. That doesn't mean you shouldn't, just thought you should know before you commit to them.

P.S. Lacy is absolutely gorgeous!

She does look like a Cochin bantam to me as well, a birchen one to be exact.
I didn't know that thanks for the info, I haven't had a chance to do much research on them yet, figured I had till spring anyway and we have been busy trying to get things ready for winter. I decided winter wasn't going to sneak up on me like it normally does... lol
And if all else fails I like them ( so far ) enough to just keep them around as pets, something pretty to look at in the yard, you know how that is.

So Lacy is a Birchen Cochin, good to know. I love her to the moon and back.

Doing a lot of "get ready for winter" things here. going to be super busy next few days. Ugh, I could do without it for sure.
x2 I hate winter!!!!

So I shared that a turkey of ours was killed a couple Monday's ago. Since then I'd set up a game cam and only got pics of squirrels, my birds, a coon and our dog

This morning at 8:25 as I walk into the dining room I look out to see a Coyote running straight up from the shed to the house after the birds! I hadn't let everyone out of the coops yet so only the turkeys and Peafowl were there and fortunately they flew up to the roof and the turkeys scattering! I immediately ran out the back doors with our dog following screaming as it continued my dog proceeded after it!! It was as large as our boy. Lab/shepherd mix. I really was in shock!
This is the view from my dining room windows.

It came all the way up to the deck then as I was running out it turned away from the house running up a hillside at the end of the trees there in a clearing.
Now I don't know what to do!!

@ellymayRans the only thing I can suggest is to shoot it. If its coming on your place in daylight, its only there for 1 reason, you have the right to protect your livestock. Or bait a live trap and relocate it very far away.

Those are Ayam Cemani on the roof. The boy in front is out of the Smithsonian line which had some Leghorn cross - thus his white lobes. Makes him perfect for my fibro phoenix project. :)

Molly Brown is supposed to be a genetic hackle - but now that I know more about them, I am not so sure she is. I have a couple of fly tie boys and know what their feathers are supposed to look like. Even so, she is a sweet hen. :)

I have a trio of f1 fibro phoenix that I am willing to part with if anyone in the group is interested.

My absolute favorites, though, are my Ohiki. Here is my pride and joy - Charlemagne. He is amazing!

Thank you all for the nice compliments on Charlemagne. I hope to get more like him out of him this coming spring. If anyone is interested in chicks or hatching eggs, feel free to contact me around March or so. His tail should be fuller and longer by that time, too, as the Ohiki are a true bantam long-tail breed.

In addition to Ohiki, I have started a line of fibro phoenix and I hope to work with them for many years, as I find them to be really gorgeous birds, too:
