I'm sure you were speaking of the chickens when you mentioned only having to bathe once. But I still found it amusing.

I don't like to kill anything and I don't, but if all else fails I will. I had daylight visiting Coyote last year, ( you may remember ) It came after me when I went out to chase it off my horse. Turned out it had distemper. It was put down. If something like that comes out in daylight and where people and lg dogs, chances are there is something wrong. But I do try other things first.@ellymayRans ~ Boohoo, don't shoot ~ Coyotes usually travel in pairs and mate for life. I always feel sad when I see one dead on a highway. I found this online: HUMANE HINTS: Coyotes are difficult to trap in cage traps - leg-hold and paw-hold traps are the most effective, but considered inhumane, especially if the animal is not attended to quickly. If possible, instead of trapping, attempt to deter the coyotes from preying on sheep or livestock with electric fences, powerful noise or sound deterrents, or even a guard dog or even donkey. A large guard dog will intimidate a coyote. Coyotes will more than likely stay away if they feel they have no cover, so keep area free of foliage if possible. Coyotes don't like surprises. Install some motion sensor lights in the area. You can also connect a sprinkler system to a motion detector.
A side note: We've noticed that lights and sounds do nothing to deter opossums and raccoons from coming up to our deck (the coops are by the deck). We haven't seen them actually try to get in the coops. They're usually looking around on the ground although we'll never know unless we get a camera.

@chick rookie Love your Lacy girl! My Black Bantam Cochin, Screech, lays little white eggs smaller than the Silkies' eggs. Screech is smaller than the Silkies—is Lacy? Here's a photo I took yesterday of Screech who could be beautiful if she stopped challenging my LF chickens who've pecked her head feathers off.
Here's Bonbon (Bantam Chocolate English Orpington) She's been having a light molt starting from the top. Her new neck feathers are a darker, richer brown. Bonbon hatched Screech (thanks to @ellymayRans ). I was hoping that Bonbon would go broody this fall, but she and Screech still act like mother and baby so I don't think Bonbon will have the urge.
At the beginning of this year, my two Silkies (from @bradselig ) had their crests pecked off and were looking shabby. Both grew their crests back nicely. A year and a half ago, I cut their "bangs" from their eye areas so they could see, and it's weird (but good) that their bangs never grew back. Ditzy (Blue Splash) transformed info a beautiful, fluffy girl and even grew fancy long foot feathers (can't see because of the grass). Smalty is currently molting so I am hoping her faded feathers are replaced by new, darker ones. She asked that her photo not be taken. lol

Good to hear from you, and congrats!I've been away from the thread on personal leave, too.![]()

@Faraday40 I hope that Cuddles is more successful with her card tricks than my (RIP) Nene was with playing her little piano!

@Leahs Mom Love onegirlsrant ! Someone posted this one (maybe you) around a year or so ago, and it resurfaced so yesterday I posted it on my Facebook (which I rarely use because BYC is my first social media choice).![]()

My niece and her DH and DDs recently bought an old farm house with stables and land in North Carolina. I love her response:

Ugh, hope things improve for you. I have read about the sinus injection. Worth a try but have hands to help restrain! Scary getting so close to the eyes. My fella a few years back, Snoodles had an eye pecked out, and had to do the sinus injection on him, 20+ pound tom. It did clear him up.Ugh. Puff's under-eye sinuses are still super swollen after quite a lot of treatment. Initially, we were treating him with 4ccs Liquamycin200 injected into the breast once daily. Heard Tylan 50 was better with turkey respiratory infections, so started him on 1cc orally daily. I've seen no meaningful improvement to his sinuses, but he's not coughing or sneezing as much. Gave him last night off treatment, but debating on if we should up his dosage or inject it directly into his sinuses, which may be plugged and not receiving the antibiotic. He's been several days on to a few days off treatment since we got him about two weeks ago (or more?).
One of my turkey hens (Falkor) had a swollen eye this afternoon. Her sinuses seem okay, it's just the front top part of the eyelid of one eye that's swollen. She's breathing and otherwise acting fine (just a jealous and demanding of affection as ever).
I have a broody Australorp pullet. Not sure how or if I should bother breaking her. She's been on the nest 24/7 for a week or more.
Had to hurry and try to process all of our pumpkins earlier than hoped because the birds pulled down the fence and were eating through them. Still harvested hundreds of pounds of pumpkin, so I can't really complain. Am going to have to learn to can quickly.
I've been sick since we picked up the turkey tom. My autistic son brought this nasty bug home from school, so we've all been busting lungs periodically for a couple weeks. Now some of us are getting a rash that looks rather like chicken pox. I've already had it, but I sometimes get viruses more than once (like mono, which I've had a few times).
Anyone know of a good place to sell some used jewelry. Its not something I really want to put on CL.
How old is she? I might have a winter solution for you.. I have a silkie who is about six ish months old roo maybe little older not sure but he stays inside the hatchery alone about five feet from the chickens and five from comet out golden comet who might not be stayingI don't like to kill anything and I don't, but if all else fails I will. If something like that comes out in daylight and where people and lg dogs, chances are there is something wrong. But I do try other things first. Lacy is a dream she so far has done something every day to make me smile. I wouldn't say she is smaller than my silkies but she is no bigger. Another thing I think is ODD, every egg I have got from her not only is smaller, but it the most round egg I have ever seen, and they all have been so far. I have no ideal how old (for sure) she is but I'm guessing young. Other than Lacy's " necklace " your and mind could be twins ie... baldies.... Lacy's head feathers are starting to grow back in now that she is away from those bad girls she used to live with. I didn't know Nene ( RIP) played the piano... so cool. I have a DitzyI also now have a bubbles.. she does this weird head bob thing all the time, and some times she will walk in circles 3 times then back straight again????
She comes in the house every night cause I cant find anyone that will let her sleep with them. Don't know what I'm going to do this winter, cant be bringing her in and out then, will make her sick. My little scissor beaked chick is doing great! She has made it to the grow out pen,
. Bob ( flock roo ) is picking on Waddles through the fence so Waddles is going to be moved into the dog yard so he is not bullied anymore. Just got to figure out how to get his big ol heavy house through our gate... lol ???

What I was trying to say was either you could barrow him for the winter or she could be housed with him in my brooder hatcheryI don't like to kill anything and I don't, but if all else fails I will. check with @racinchickins he did want the lavenders for his flock. I have others on my waiting list so they may reply also. I had my last hatch this afternoon (as you heard lol!), but didn't move the hen as all had not finished hatching. Looks like she gave me quite a variety! I will take her ducklings, she immediately takes them to the pond, not safe for newborn ducks. My sweet black hen goes Physco unlike all my other girls, she is feisty! I took her last hatch, and she actually flew up and went after my nephew. She then flew behind me all the way to the house, and squeaked at the door for hours! I felt so horribly guilty, but snapping turtles will eat ducklings. I can't say 100% there are none in my pond since its fed by a small creek, too much risk.I've got a pair of lavender muscovy and a pair of black carrying lavender and chocolate. I might be willing to sell them or trade them if anyone is interested. I have a solid lavender with a barred lavender and a solid black with a barred black. Very nice birds.
