INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I've found a svart hona breeder who has good quality birds and doesn't want the usual outrageous prices and will even concider trades if we come to an agreement I will be driving to Florida in the spring to pick some up if anyone wants me to add the the order let me know I'll pick them up for you

I've only been breeding towards olive eggers for 2 years. Always ending up with males. This Easter hatchalong my aunt and I did it together. I built her an incubator and gave her eggs. Well I ended up with 2 hens and she with 1. Hers started laying a couple of weeks ago and check it out! I told her you would know she'd end up with the winner!!
those are beautiful... that's what I am trying for. What breeds did you use to get that awesome color?

Hay all I'm wanting to rehome my white Silkie, she is of course a good broody and a good mom. But she has started picking on everyone and I wont keep bullies. PM if your interested. thanks

Try your Wellie roo over a blue layer. Blackbeard over a Wellie (or Maran, if you have one) will also likely give you nice deeper green egg layers. Key here is mixing dark brown layers with bright blue or green layers. Mixing dark brown over a green layer should result in avocado and olive eggers.

ETA: And yes, Blackbeard loves oranges and gleefully picks over the peels for tidbits that were left behind (but he'll be your best friend forever if you share one with him)

So the first time it snowed we used my dads house tarp to cover all of the coops but it nearly crushed the fencing and sagged horribly any ideas

Speaking rotts, meet Drāgo. He will be seven weeks this Friday. The golden is playing nursemaid to him. He's doing well for the most part.

I on the other hand look to have a gall bladder surgery impending. Will know more tomorrow.

Ugh.
So cute!

So sorry about the surgery. Hope everything's OK.

On the bright side, it looks like you'll have a great snuggle puppy while you recover.
Ditto!

Thanks. It was my black copper marans roo over a Easter Egger blue egg layer.
I may have to make me 2 pens for OE in the spring... lol I will have 1 with the roo I got from kitty doc.

I will have to do that. lol

house tarps are heavy, you will need a lighter tarp and higher on 1 side then the other helps too, but you will still have to go knock the snow off the tarps as it gets deeper, they aren't the best to use in the winter, I use them on some houses but most have either tin or wood scrapps over hanging to make a snow free zone if that is what you are trying to do.

Wow, she looks like an Ameracauna on steroids! Totally Ameracauna head type, and we didn't get that with either of our attempts. The first was very, very big and Orpish except for a small comb. Oliver is more of a combo pack. Mostly he's intermediate, physically. @chick rookie when you have a bunch of English Orpingtons, your idea of size gets skewed! My black English Orp roo Cogburn is the size of a young tom turkey or big turkey hen. My female English Orps are the size of most hatchery American Orp roos. Our sole Ameracauna is by far our smallest hen, though she lays a nice sized egg.
Now I have an ideal of what I am going to be getting into. Next year I am going to start getting Orpingtons, hopfully some of @jchny2000 Lav's and I want some blacks and a few blues to add to my Buffs I already have. I want Orp's and BA's and BR, And WR's as my main breeds in my layer coop. And I have already started weeding out the hatchery birds, getting rid of those.
