Okay - so it's really cold. But I've NEVER seen my adult birds huddle together. Ever. On roosts at night they stay pretty far apart.

What's up with that?

That means they aren't feeling the cold that much! You're a good chicken mom and gave them a warm house.

no some one dropped a stray in my neighbor's yard on the 4th. Her dogs were going nuts so she called me over to catch the poor hen. I'm just keeping it with the goats for now. It eats their dropped food and hasn't got stepped on yet.

Oh geez, if I'd known about it, I could've picked her up and gotten her checked over. We just came through there four times this weekend. Plus, I've got oodles of goodies for your kids (including some clothes!).

Two notes of interest today
1.) went outside yesterday and during feeding I noticed one of my brahmas laying on the mate instead of standing I put food in she tried to get up but couldn't move one leg... I felt it and it was hard as a rock so I figured it was frozen... Took her inside put her in warm water and ten minutes later she was as good as new.. She's been inside overnight

2.) we are at the hospital(me and wifey) and she's being induced my daughter will be born today(Raelynn virginia rose) on her way anytime now
