I saw obvious improvement in 3 days with the Denaguard. I have tried just about everything out there this did the job. Since I only have a few laying right now eggs were tossed. We are working off our frozen eggs right now, glad I did it last summer. Most of my seasonal flocks are not laying yet aside from one brown chinese goose, and the waterfowl weren't medicated.
Lesson learned for me, anything that comes in no matter where it came from gets quarantined. Life events may change flock management in another farms flock... so many other factors, its just the safest way to prevent issues in your existing home flocks. Quarantine is easier than medicating and dealing with losses of valuable and loved birds.
I am new here and from south of Indianapolis.
Quote: I have kept so many duck breeds, and have settled on Muscovy and Mallards. Mine are not laying yet but will be soon, they don't lay in the hard winter months. I will probably add pekin in the spring again so around march will be getting ducklings. The 2 breeds are less "messy" with mud and water than other duck breeds, and more social IMO. Please invite your friend to our thread! I have really sorted through duck breeds the last 4 years, and feel the quieter breeds, more productive and less messy are the 2 breeds I have chosen are exactly that. Mallard hens are a bit noisier than you would expect for the size but lay well seasonally. Muscovy are flat awesome and social, very quiet. The big question is are they dual purpose, or eggs, or meat only..or pets.

Any other reason is second to being respected and treated as a pet. I respect them most for what they give our family and love every one of the critters I keep, and they know it. I also mourn any losses, some are hard to accept but I know the reality of the breed thats passed away. I have a big mixed egg flock but know every bird thats here. I also have specific breeds that stay in breeding coops, these have impressed me most. Its been a hard winter already to say goodbye to a few poultry flock members we adored. My point is we love the critters we keep. We thank them for what they give our family in return.
