@racinchickinsWe actually don't use either. Wade builds and uses Warre hives. He's a hands off, let the girls do their thing, kind of beekeeper. I'm a very very hands off, let Wade do his thing type of beekeeper.
That's good to hear. I'm a TF type myself and foundationless. We just have the 1 tbh but hubby is building a long Lang that we'll use foundationless in.
I want them building their own comb and don't like using even the wax foundations as the beeswax is so toxic with all the treatments mixed together from all the many hive's wax that is melted together to form the foundations. I was so disappointed when I learned how toxic beeswax is from conventional hives. Made me not want to use any beeswax products unless they're from my own TF hives or someone else's TF hives that I know.
Wade may be interested to see this report...this gal decided to have her wax lab tested for toxicity after using tbh for 2 years to see how it rated. Fantastic lab results and the first I've ever seen (though I imagine there are more out there. Everything was ND (Not Detectable)

Also noticed (too late because I didn't know about them) that they sell and ship TF packages with naturally mated queens that were raised on small cell. If I had known about them I may have tried one of theirs for this tbh. They're out of Maine and these are from hives that have wintered there so sounds like it could be good genetics and also acclimated to be hardy in our winters.
