INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I also forgot to add, does anyone in northern indiana have any silkies available? I can't find any anywhere near me. I don't really want 15 to 25 more chickens from a hatchery to have a couple of silkies.
I know a lady in Marion, IN who has some silkies for sale. She has nice stock and these are more "show" quality than hatchery. Send me a pivate message and ill send her information to you if interested. I think they are several months old now and she's selling for $10 a chick

I have just spent the better part of the day watching my bantams... (sure my neighbours will think me mad sitting there all day). Discovered all the chicks are big wienies... After the first one flew down and got back into the coop, not a single one decided to venture to the ground. Had three of them take a trip half way down the branch, but never made it to the floor. Almost all made an effort to perch on the opening to have a look.

I closed the coop up for the evening, they did not seem bothered. Maybe tomorrow they will pluck up the courage to make it to the ground and investigate the tasty grass.

Also dawned on me after being out there all day how many chickens I currently own. Counted 30... Holy moley, when did that happen??

Oh, goodness! The chicks are adorable, but I really love those jars you have in the background! :love
Sebright bantam Got another wall done today on new coop. Put window in as well. Hope you enjoyed my photos!!
Cute Sebright! I love the siding on your coop! Okay, well, spring's officially here for me! The Sebrights are going broody! :th Don't reach into the nests without earplugs, that's for sure...

My last batch of chicks left the brooder in the house today :( i have been raising batches since febuary- now chick season is over for me :( went ahead and cleaned brooder box, heat lamp, and chick feeders and stored them all away to prevent me rushing to rual king to buy what i can before they stop selling them next month.my living room feels empty with no brooder or loud cheeping.my husband is doing a happy dance, because the house is finally chick free. Lol. I was excited to get this last batch out because they were wild hooligans. But now i miss them lol.good news my babies who was turned out today seemed to be taken under my buff orps, Ee,and brahmas wings:) cant say the same for my RIR & sex links that thought it was amusing to terrorize the new arrivals- lol.

All the new birds looks great. Orschelns has geese and trying my hardest to resist. If only I had a pond and better waterfowl shelter instead of using the chicken coop.

Your coop looks amazing! What size is it and how many pallets have you used thus far? I'm thinking about using pallets to make my new breeding pens but will likely use the compost fiber board siding stuff for the outside.

How many pallets i have used so far?

Im going to get a few more truck loads of pallets tomorrow. My mother inlaw is in charge of purchasing at her work so i get all the used pallets i want. Building with pallets is fun but can be a head ache at times too. The worse part about it is cutting the slats off the pallets for shingles. So far the cost of this coop build is $0. I already had screws, nails, and windows. After coop is finished my next project is some more chicken tractors, and breeding pens.

I love it! Great job! I've tried and tried to talk DH into us saving several hundreds of $$ but he just refuses! So needless to say I'm still waiting!! This will be our second coop..darn chicken math has hit us hard! Lol

What would you cover a pallet coop with? Still looking for coop ideas, even though the shed has already been started on......I have a feeling this chicken math will be getting me too......
