Just got the run up. We will build the gate for it today and will put bird netting over the top we are home all day so we are monitoring for aerial predators. The bigger girls needed some room so we went ahead a made it so they could come out.

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the comments on my interview! :D I'm actually still trying to get up the nerve to post over there, too, but I'm feeling rather sheepish about it...

I also wanted to ask those of you who have ordered through Sand Hill if y'all have any advice for putting an order in. I've heard it can be tricky to get an order through, so I'm wondering how soon it should be done for my best chances of getting chicks from them in 2017?

I was wondering, too, if anyone wanted to go in with me on an order? They only sell chicks in lots of 25. I was looking more at getting 15 or 16 chicks, but was just going to fill out the order and Craigslist the extras or something. However, I'd be more than happy to split with someone if they have anything specific they want from Sand Hill! I'm in northeast Indiana, if that makes any difference for driving distance. Just let me know. :)

The interview was awesome! I enjoyed reading it! I know we might be looking for one or two turkey poults for next year. However, I will look on their website and see if there is anything we might be interested in. We are always looking on ways to save with shipping.

Hi! Fellow hoosier here! Does anyone in the northern half of Indiana have any young pullets for sale (prefer 4-6 months old) that are Buff Orpington, Barred Rock, Silver Laced Wyandottes, or Cockoo Maran? I am having a heck of a time finding pullets within an hour's drive me. The only source I have is Craigslist and half the time the sellers do not even respond.

You may have luck with this gentleman. I was able to contact him. Actually going to pick up some laying hens this coming weekend

Speaking of Craigslist:

2 Oberhasli doelings $350/ea in Butler

Free pretty rooster in Indy

Old hens in Avon

One old horse and two mini donkeys (one jenny, one gelded jack). $750

Young RIR roo in Indy $10 According to seller, he's sweet but would be an excellent flock guardian

Bunch of chickens and four ducks in Rushville. Includes a pair of splash Silkies, standard Cochins, laying hens, numerous pullets. Ducks look to be two blue Swedish, one black Swedish, and one Rouen.

Looks like same seller as above, but selling what look like pygmy milking goats

Blue Orps, blue & black Cochins in Indy $10/ea

Same seller I bought my golden pheasants from (and she's a delight to buy from). Near Logansport. Seller has guineas, Swinhoe pheasants, silkies, Marans, Polish, all kinds of things. Silkie chicks start at $3/ea, but she also has adults available (splash, red)

2 Free Silkie roos in Pendleton

Young laying pullets/hens in Pendleton $10/ea Mostly EEs (and pretty ones!), but also a BSL and what looks like a BO roo.

Free pet piggy in Indy! About 40lbs

Free roos in Avon! Two beautiful mixes, one black Araucana, one white crested blue Polish! Mixes are stunning Araucana/Brahma and Ameraucana/Cochin and ought to have lighter green egg genes. Gorgeous boys, and I want them all!
